For those using TexMod, you can do this without an edited XCOMLauncher.exe - in fact, I couldn't manage it with it.
The way I understand it, the game only runs XcomEW.exe (the actual game) if it was run by XComLauncher.exe.
So all you need to do is:
Use EasyTexMod on XCOMLauncher.exe (this will rename the texmod executable to XCOMLauncher.exe).
Open autotexmod.ini and change the gameexe target to XComEW.exe.
And voila, now when you use the Steam shortcut for XCOM:EW, or launch it through Steam, it will open autotexmod and then launch XcomEW.exe directly, which will work because it's still being run by a XComEW.exe.
Not really, you can easily launch the game without the launcher, you just need to provide the right arguments to the game executable...
The game itself never looks for any XCOMLauncher.exe, is just being ran with proper arguments by the real launcher...
This mod is not skipping the launcher at all, is using the launcher code, but the author failed to see the arguments part that would way more effective way to get rid of the launcher entirely.
