    I have an issue. After I got a MEC, Pathfider. When I back out of his character sheet game crashes, also does if I try to select another character within the page or if I select a different character. Before this moment everything was running fine.

    Edit: Even going back further before I choped it down its still doesn't matter. Now Every character sheet I back out of crashes the game.

    So, for whatever reason if I try to take away gene mods from Rocketeers in the .ini the game immediately crashes upon Rocketeer promotion. No other class poses this problem, and no workaround seems to work either (such a locking genemods behind impossible chains or making them incompatible with baseline Rocketeer skills, they keep appearing in both cases). Any help?

    It says that the default LW DefaultGameCore.ini is required to install this, and it ships with a batch file that does the installation. I have two questions. :)

    1. I've made minor changes to DGC - specifically chance for crit kill on a soldier and the default uniform colors for soldiers. I suppose it's possible that other mods have made changes to it. Is the intention that TRP be installed before all other mods? Are minor changes in the DGC okay?
    2. Can the Long War Mod Manager install this? It doesn't look like it can.

    I'm excited to try this, but I may have to wait to finish my current campaign before installing this as I'm not 100% sure I won't break everything when I try <_< Thanks for making it!

    The game crashes whenever I try to bring up the soldier list via the Barracks or the Squad Ready screen.
    This bug is a critical one, as I can no longer view the soldier list to select who to send out for a mission, therefore preventing me from continuing the game.
    I am not a happy person right now, as I have spent a good amount of time into this campaign, and just completed XCOM HQ Defense in 2nd year March as of writing.

    The game started to crash the moment my very first Jaeger had been added to the roster. That was around next year February (I tend to build MECs late). One note to share is that I configured the DefaultRoulettePlus.ini to randomize MEC Trooper skilltree as well as normal soldier skilltree, and also retain soldier rank on augmentation.
    Maybe changing the two options was a wrong decision and I shouldn't have done it, but who knew? Whenever I assigned a SGT Perk to my MSGT Jaeger and I attempted to return to the soldier list, the game would always crash.

    The 'Retain Soldier Rank' feature also was buggy. After running some tests, it seemed that when "MECXpLoss = true", my Jaeger actually didn't lose a rank. When I set "MECXpLoss = false", they lost a rank, which should've been the opposite.

    I was able to bypass the soldier list issue once by continuing Jaeger promotion from the Squad Ready screen instead of the Barracks. It seems that the Squad Ready screen has some resistance to this bug, and allowed me to inspect the soldier list a few times before the game inevitably crashes.
    But when the Transport mission that Jaeger participated in ended, the game froze for 30 seconds before the Skyranger flight cinematic started. That was when I realized that something went quite wrong in my savegame.

    I tend to backup my saves on an external drive, but unfortunately none of my backups had a date where my Sniper hadn't been augmented yet.
    Hence I used a little extreme solution which was dismissing the MSGT Jaeger, and from there I was able to inspect the soldier list properly again. The game seemed to stop crashing.
    After I learned that randomized MEC skilltree is a pandora's box, I gave up on any future MEC augmentations.

    But after completing XCOM HQ Defense and getting the crashed Scout mission, the bug re-emerged. This time, I could not view the soldier list from neither the Barracks nor the Squad Ready screen. As soon as the soldier list was displayed, the game crashed.
    I was getting anxious and angry because this time, there was no Jaeger to blame. The cause was uncertain. I assumed the survived Blueshirts in the roster was causing the issue, so I went back to HQ Defense mission and used the command console to kill all the Blueshirts before destroying the last Sectopod.

    But that did not solve the constant crashing.
    I can't start a mission without selecting a soldier, and I can't select a soldier when the soldier list keeps crashing the game.

    My savegame is hardlocked.


    I'm going to take a break from Long War, and in the meantime uninstall Training Roulette Plus.
    That is not to say TRP was unfun. I really enjoyed the wild variety that TRP provided, since it allowed some interesting builds such as:

    • an Infantry who can shoot 4 times with Hit and Run, Light 'em Up, Rapid Fire
    • a perfect Medic that has all the Medikit and Smoke Perks
    • a Bullet Wizard with Lock 'n Load for endless suppression
    • Scouts and Engineers who own Battlescanner and Packmaster for ultra-cheesing Terror mission

    However, I cannot enjoy the mod when the game becomes completely unplayable because of it. It is really unfortunate that I will be avoiding TRP in future runs.
    Maybe my savegame wouldn't have been screwed if I hadn't changed the MEC options in the INI. Maybe if I completely disregard MEC Troopers and only use bio soldiers, it is possible to end a campaign with TRP.

    But I don't think I'm going to find it out. I just don't want to gamble with my time again.

    Exactly what I've been looking for, thanks! I love the idea of really wildly randomised perk trees and making every perk choice a new and unique decision - even at the expense of optimal soldier builds - but I am also very attached to the class identities in Long War. This seems like the perfect solution, thanks!

    Hey azxeus I've been wanting to use v2 because I like several of the fixes it made, but I've been holding off and sticking with 1.7.5 because of the open bug about the PerkChance INI settings being ignored. I'm a software engineer by trade, but I have no experience working on XCOM mods. I know you've been away from the project for awhile. I'm wondering if you could point me to any resources that might allow me to use your code from github and create a PR with fixes for the open bugs? Or at least so I could fix the bug that's bugging me and compile it for myself. I see the code, I just don't know how to compile the Classes down to a `.u` file so that I can install it in XCOM and see if my fixes are working.

    I actually discovered this through the My Long War mod, of which I am using eastpaw's included changes.

    However, when using TRP I'm also getting duplicate perks showing up as I rank up e.g. Holo Targeting appears for the first and second promotions, same with Fire Rocket; I'm also getting gene-mods showing up - is that supposed to happen?
