Hmm... Where can I find these optional patches that the description talks about if I want to install this mod for the vanilla game? Edit: Sorry, my mistake. Got it!
Hey, absolutely love the idea of this mod but I can't seem to get step 3 working. Whenever I try to apply one of the text files in PatcherGUI, it says "Error patching UPK". Heads up, I'm new to XCOM modding since I only got it a couple days ago during the Steam Summer Sale and the only DLC I have is the Elite Soldiers Customisation one, just in case there's anything else I need to do that's common knowledge to those who regularly mod. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Played with these and GoW packs today. Absolutely perfect, polished packs. High quality and consistent decibel. You just enhanced Xcom experience many fold. Thank
Love the voice packs and I cant wait to use them. Only frustrating thing is, how do I apply th GetPossibleVoices.upk_mod? I've been searching the web for hours looking for a quick step by step, instead of a tool that needs a tool that needs another tool. Can you guys point me in the right direction or tell me how you got it to work? I've got UPK Modder.jar installed but I cant seem to get it to patch the XComGame.upk
You can skip step 2 if you're having problems and just go to step 3 instead of installation. Step 2 is only for enabling more than 6 voicepacks for female voices per language - it isn't necessarily needed.
In vanilla there are already 6 selectable voices for both male and female english voices.
How does this work without overriding the native function which returns the number of voices when it should be greater than 6? Will it overwrite the default 6th voice?
I also can't get upkmodder to apply the patch. A patchgui version would be sweet, but I guess no one ever made one, and my attempts to convert it have failed (I'm not familiar enough with upkmodder format, maybe).
What I really should do is just skip the step as advised and see what happens... It'll probably work fine since we're not adding the voices to the english voice and instead using "unassigned" or whatever.
EDIT: Yeah, it works fine. You're just limited to 6 voices per language (for females I guess, since 9 for males works fine), which is fine since this can be added as a new language (as per included instructions) and you can add a crapton of new languages if you choose to. In the end I added 3 new languages: Mass Effect, Battlefield, and Gears of War. Works and sounds great. Will endorse after playing with it for a while.
Man I'm loving these voice packs but this is my favorite(mainly cause mass effect is like my favorite series). I was wondering do you have plans to do voice packs for other mass effect characters?
Thanks! There are easy to find extractors for Mass Effect games on the net, nothing too complicated to use. The only problem is finding exactly what you want after extracting the files
The same way as any other - I've extracted all sounds from the relevant possible sources, then listened to each one of over 100 thousands different voice clips recorded for the games (for Mass Effect at least), then selected and sorted those voice clips that I believed would be useful for the voicepack, then edited and modify them in various ways, then finalized selection process and added last changes and then finally made the voicepack in editor.
I don't know what that mod exactly changes in game but I don't think there should be any conflict - unless of course that mod rewrites changes that are necessary for these voicepacks to work

Hmmm...? the grappling hook and jetpack i get it. But last time i played you could use biotic abilities which is pretty similar to Psy in XCOM.
