I have done the instructions of this mod and nothing has changed or works. Unless the dev gets back to to community from this one, and sonce people have had crashes with this mod, I would advise you stay away from this until it is fixed or working.
I also followed the directions to the letter. The mod causes EW to crash immediately after start up. Replacing the mod file with the original UPK file fixed the issue. I again tried to re-install the mod file with the same results. Thank you for the effort but the mod is causing the entire program to crash.
looking for 2 weeks the internet for the Second Wave options to unlock. i start a Game in Impossible Iron man Modus and then come the Patch and i have no second Wave Option avialable. Sorry for my bad English. Can anyone offer the xcomgame.upk to download me. That would be super sweet
2- Rename XComGame.upk.uncompressed_size to whatever 3- Rename XComGame.upk to XComGame.bak or whatever
What?
Rename the files to something else (the name can be 'whatever' you wish). This is preferable to simply deleting them, as you may need to temporarily restore the original vanilla file to it's original name for other purposes.
And feel free to propose 'better' instructions. This is pretty standard stuff, so we all will benefit from such improvements.

BTW, patch doesn't affect SW options: if you had them before patch, you should have them after patch too.
