Bold Move making that post a sticky °grins° Because it lies now.
As of 29.06.2024 and X4 foundations v7.00 hotfix 1 + all DLC (GOG), using this mod results in the usual "desktop is shown and standard "windows waiting hourglass cursor" shows indefinetely"-error.
I played X4 at that time (on GOG too) and it worked - same as it does now. You should probably - same as the other commenter - not blame mod creators for game bugs or user error.
not working with the latest patch. tried with all other mods disabled, and x4 wont load past a black screen.
edit: for some reason i got it to work if i installed manually. for anyone having problems with mods, i would suggest doing it manually. perhaps there is a problem with vortex atm. install path is my documents/egosoft/x4/extensions.
It is working with the latest patch and it worked manually because that is the intended install method. This mod is not Vortex compatible nor do I have any ambition to make it compatible.
You will find that many mods actually aren't - just that many mod creators forget to disable the "Download with Manager"-button in the files section that is defaulted to enabled for whatever reason. In case of this mod the function is disabled. So it must be a bug/oversight/questionable feature with Vortex. Allowing you to try and install the mod through it in the first place should not be possible.
As for the install path: Be aware that X4 has 2 extension folders. The one you mentioned under Documents and one in the game's install directory. Using both can lead to problems if mods have dependencies. I have no idea how Vortex handles this. Personally I prefer to use the one in the game's install directory as this is where the game places its own DLC (which are handled the same way as extensions/mods).
Does anybody use @strangemind's 'matte black' or 'matte white' mods with the new 6.0 release? Will they work? I love these paint mods and would like to continue to use them...
Yes, both still work. Of my mods only "All paintmods as Default Paint" needed an update and that only because there are many new paints.
The only thing I didn't test yet is if the compatibility with "Ship Traders Sell Paint Mods" still works - but seeing that there are no code changes or complains on that mods comments - there should be no problems.
Please read the description and look up how paints in this game work. There are 2 ways to paint ships in X4 - default theme selection and the redesign menu which uses inventory items gained through missions called "paintmods".
The default theme is immediately and at any time available where all of those are: under the Player Information tab -> Default Ship Skin.
If you want it as a paintmod to use with the redesign menu, you need to use the mod "Ship Traders Sell Paint Mods" since you need to buy the paint as an inventory item.
Sorry, but no interest to make further colors at this time. As you are a modder yourself - making far more complex stuff (nice ships btw): this kind of paintjob is easy to make. Just take a look at how I did it in my files, maybe use Jade (paintmod_0108) as base, check here for RGB color codes and experiment a bit.
Also thank you very much for the recommendation in your mod's description.
My first thought was the paint "Captain Pearle". But you are right it's actually rather glossy. So I am on it. Testing it right now. Should release within the next 24 hours.
