Are there plans to update this mod for current versions of X4. I was so hyped to have this ship be the backbone of my M trader fleet but it's loading without and Hull textures.
Trading Station - "Hey! Pilot. Love the look of you new ship you've got there. What's it called?" Captain - "Why thank you. It's called a Firefly. It's a medium transporter." Trading Station - "Nice... I was wondering... Could transport some goods for me. Got a load of hull parts that need to get delivered to the ship factory ASAP." Captain - "Hmm... Well... I'm not sure I can do that, to be honest." Trading Station - "Why not? Don't you like earning credits? I'll pay you extra if you can deliver on time." Captain - "Oh! It's not that. It's just that when I bought the ship, THE MAKERS DIDN'T GIVE ME ANY DETAILS OF HOW MUCH THE STORAGE WAS." Trading Station - "Well... That's a pretty dumb omission in the details for a trading ship... Not knowing its cargo capacity!"
I cannot determine why the textures aren't showing up for this mod. I even tried it using a default paintmod, and no change. The ship is basically silver, with the window and panels in blue.
How come this download has 72 MB? Usually a ship that size has less tha 10% of this amount of data. I'm asking because my PC isn't the best and I wonder if this file size is due to an overwhelming (for my PC) amount of vertices. Take the Cyclops for example. It's an L-class frigate and the file size is just 6MB! https://www.nexusmods.com/x4foundations/mods/1062?tab=files
Yeah, it does have a lot of vertices, which I have already heavily reduced from the original model. I'll be honest, the old version of this mod was no where near optimised (40mb compressed) and with the new collision system it has doubled. I was having all sorts of trouble working with the new system that as soon as I got it working I pushed it out the door. My bad on that.
I also noticed after uploading the new version I had left some backup files in the folder which would take the zip down to 60mb.
I'll try optimising and get a new version up for you. Edit: I managed to reduce the file size back to the old version of 40mb. There is a new file added with the new collision/hull system called "anim_main-mesh.jcs", not exactly sure how it is used but I decimated the model so its 90% smaller in file size and shouldn't have any visual impact on the player (and also removed redundant backups).
The main ship model hasn't changed when it comes to vertices/file size so I'm not sure if you'll see any performance gain. Let me know how it goes, maybe I'll make a low-poly/performance friendly version at some point.
It would be great to post a little more information in the description, though - you will definitely get more downloads that way.
For example:
Ship size (M), role (Trader?), weapon slots, turrets, stats, etc. Also where people can buy it and the price.
Some of this can be done by inserting a picture from the in-game ship buy/config menu, before adding any modules so people can see the 'base' stats. The same with the basic modules mk1, would be great too.
All this is useful so people can decide if it's right for their game.
You've done a superb job on the model, though! Really curious to know what it looks inside :) Maybe in a future run this might become my "player ship", I already picked one this time around.
