There's nothing that would prevent another version of the mod. A "super realistic"-version with a couple of hours build time. You can always change the times yourself or make a suggestion for a "even longer build times"-version. :-)
This is a very valid concern. I admit that I didn't test the consequences of longer build times on the economy. Given that this is my first mod, this was simply out of scope for me.
If longer build times can potentially mess up the build queues and economy... The simplest solution would be to see about causing more shipards/wharfs per faction to spawn, rather than the measly 1 of each, with a few equipment docks ;) Though probably out of scope for this mod, would be a nice companion mod to have.
I really like the idea of this mod, the only issue I see is that every ship in the game is supposedly created at stations, so if the build time is too long, factions will rapidly run out of ships and wars will never happen as well.
You might be right. I didn't test for any consequences in the long run. This mod is the result of a mod request on the EGOSOFT forums (link in the mod description) and I wanted to try if I could wrap my head around X4 modding.
Factions don't seem to build combat ships anyway at the moment, only trade ships, soooo.... Not like it's really getting in the way of things :P (hopefully Egosoft finds the cause and fixes it soon >.> )
I really like the idea of this mod, and I still need to try it out! :) As a request for a separate mod, but still in the same spirit, do you think you could mod the way station repairs work? IMO, they repair insanely fast..to the point where it feels unbalanced, bugged or like a dev oversight. IMO they have way too much hull, but just nerfing their self-repair capability would do wonders. It's already pretty bizarre that they don't seem to need Construction Vessels for repairs, let alone rebuilding themselves so fast that a whole fleet can't keep up with it..
