New big update. Also rewrote much of the description, and updated the images. Please read the new description, as there is some info regarding a data migration that will occur when you play with the new update.
I've uploaded it to the Steam workshop. So for those that prefer that it can be found here. Since the workshop tool creates its own mod id, I suggest before subscribing you first open your game to disable the nexus version and then uninstall by deleting the reactive_docking folder.
I will of course keep the nexus version up to date should updates arrive.
Thank you for creating this mod, things like this should be in the base game. The only sad thing is that it is not possible to give more than one endorsement for thid mod.
I am new to creating wings. I could mark several fighters and assign them to group Alpha. But I can not find the settings "Docked" or "Launched", are these settings hidden on the "Carrier" or in the wing. Can somebody give me a hand. Thx a lot.
The setting is on the commander/carrier. Select it on the map and open info panel (the circled "i" icon). Then go to the loadout tab (circled wrench icon). Scroll down to the subordinate control section.
Hello. Thanks for great mod. I wanted to ask a thing about docking with subordinates. I`m playing SWI and i want to make cinematic fighter wings. They do work if i assign 4 fighters to a squadron leader fighter and make them fly in V formation. With this mod those fighter wings dock nice, after their squad leaders dock. However, when i try to launch those fighter squadrons only those that are not in internal storage are launched. Maybe because their squad leaders were first to land and are inside internal storage.
I know that this kind of setup is not intended by Egosoft or you. But is it possible to do something about it, and make those fighter squadrons launch properly when i switch to "Launched" state?
Update: i think that behaviour happens when i load full fighter capacity on a ship and then try to launch them. for example - i got 24 S storage capacity + 5 landing pads. so i have 24 fighters on a ship all docked.
I've also noticed something similar. The logic that controls it is all vanilla, though I did look into it at some point while making 3.0, but could not quite figure out why. I might take another look at some point when I feel like modding again.
Hey there, first off its great that you are also modding x4 and adding some more QoLs!
I am running into a problem with Aux ships not having reactive docking work properly, the S and M ships just stay in formation and do nothing, but when I switch it to launched it works as in vanilla only the S ships dock up.
I'll probably need more info as for why they don't dock. Quick testing make it seem that it still works.
I'm unsure what you mean by 'stay in formation', because as far as I know there is nothing in the trade script that would make them follow in formation.
I´m sorry I wasn´t clear enough my bad, not trading ships I mean combat S and M ships assigned to an aux ship don´t dock up when choosing reactive docking they just stay in formation and don´t dock like with other combat L and XL ships. The vanilla launched option is working correctly, not the reactive option. I hope this is more clear and helps you thanks!
ah ok. Though they still dock for me. Tried S ships, M ships, all the different combat assignments, aux on resupply duty alone and in fleet. I can't reproduce what you describe.
You can potentially try with logging enabled in case there is an error that I can read. https://www.nexusmods.com/x4foundations/articles/148
If you change stations to reactive docking, fighters assigned to defend station dock (which I like), but they launch and chase anything that comes near, including fighters coming through the gate on travel drive, they chase them across the system leaving their station undefended. I want them to dock but only launch if the station is attacked, is there anyway to do that?
I probably wont make them react to only attacks to the station, since that sounds more like a new assignment than a docking option. I have thought of adding more station subordinate assignments, like intercept and bombardment, but that is out of scope for the moment.
I can see that ships with reactive docking do not give up chase when target leaves the station zone, which they do with the vanilla behavior. So I'll try to reduce their bloodlust.
EDIT: New update stops ships from pursuing targets beyond station radius.
Hey, just a heads-up that your zip-files are malformatted and are not readable correctly on any platform except windows.Whatever program you use to make the zip files does not adhere to the zip-specification and places windows-like backward slashes as path seperators. See here for more info:
Thanks for the heads-up! I compress with a small release script that does indeed use Compress-Archive, like is mentioned in the link. Switching it out for another method, and then will reupload ASAP.
You probably have UI Extension mod? It will need to be updated before it can work with reactive docking 3.0. I have an updated version prepared here: https://github.com/runekn/x4-mod-ui-extensions/archive/refs/heads/reactive_docking_3.0.zip, but wont ask kuertee to include it until I am ready with reactive docking 3.0.
It will also work without UI Extensions mod, if you don't have anything else depending on it.

Good luck and thanks!

Thanks for your cool mod!
The whole information panel gets unresponsive.

Ok, thanks for the explanation. Then I'll wait, till you both are finished ;-)
Edit:
Found your Reddit post today and am happily updating both your mod and Kuertees UI Extensions!
