I've been having a different idea myself. I've been thinking, Terran tech superiority is visible more in the simplicity of their production chain than anything else. They go straight from raw materials to finished goods, with none of the intermediary steps that the rest of the Network uses. They're only one step short of the way the Xenon go straight from raw materials and energy to ships.
Now, for the Sollies, that's good enough, but the Segaris Pioneers interacts more with the rest of the Network. Doesn't it make sense that they'd have hybrid versions of the various production modules that they could build purely out of Terran resources and use to skip the intermediary steps of the Network production chain?
Basically, I was thinking they'd have modules for turret components, missile components, advanced electronics, antimatter converters, drone components, engine components, scanning arrays, engine parts, shield components, field coils, and hull parts--everything you need to build all original modules, ships, and weapons--and all of them would use the calculated resource value of all the different stages to produce their final product, minus some arbitrary percentage to reflect lower wastage.
I've actually kind of started trying to do it myself, but I can't figure out... well, honestly much of anything. I'm just not very confident with programming, even this simple XML stuff. I'm not sure how to take a copy of an existing module and make the game use it as a separate one, I'm not sure how to set up a new recipe for an existing product... bleh.
Actually I wonder if I could get away with just making copies of the blueprints for all regular ships and weapons, tweaking the names a bit, and replacing their material costs with Terran stuff. What do you think?
i will work on it too... its my first mod :) but to go other way around more dificult because there at many items to convert from 3 terran ware argon ships need turret,shield,engine,hull and more terran ship only 3 parts
