This version only affects Terran ships, yes. There are more details in the description, including links to the other mods this is based off of, to remove from all ships.
I once looked into the folder. there is only one folder with several sub-folders. At the end there is the folder "macros" there is a macro for every type of engine.
I think if you delete the macros for l and xl they should be spared ;-)
try it out, if it doesn't work, you can insert it again
You should be able to check under files for an optional version that works with VRO. Hopefully no issues! I'm playing my own VRO game at the moment so hopefully I'll find any issues.
To me, it makes the world feel more alive. Instead of ships zipping across the map, now the zones are populated by trade lines, you get the chance to intercept ships without some +/- 30km distance between pinging their shield and them actually slowing down, fleets actually hold their formations and travel together as do escorts for your trade fleets.
In my first 30 minutes of using this mod I experienced more combat than in the prior 20 hours.
Requires more strategic thought and risk management. You are effectively immortal as a player with a travel drive. Keep travel mode up and you can explore nearly anything without much risk.
To me this feels so much closer to what X3 was and what I feel X4 should be, that's why the mod.
I use such kinds of mods both for immersion and for slowing down the speed of gameplay. Universe should be big, really big, and even in a sci fi environment it should take a considerable amount of time to cross a sector.
I sometimes use "no travel drive" mods combined with the "expanded sectors" mod and disabled superhighways. And no SETA (Edit: Albeit "no seta" is REALLY hardcore when you are on the bridge of a destroyer and carrier and it moves just with some hundred m/s :D ). This will slow things down extremly. Which gives me more time for planning, for reaction and for enjoying the unique atmosphere of the game.
I have to rely on the boost to fly a bit faster if needed (works good in combination with switiching off flight assistance, because that way the speed does not decrease so quickly once the boost is over).
There is no benefit. Economy grinds to a halt, stations are left without resources. Xenon, that use simplified production process, slowly taking over the galaxy. Defence fleets are too slow to stop them and even if they manage to catch up, they can't replenish their number due to dead economy. Buttload of energy cells, though. 'Cause they are produced faster than they can be bought. And to get SETA you need recources that you can't source, because you, too, are slow.
