Thanks to arshiba (x4 forums) for refactoring the code after I posted my own bug report.
The mod shouldn't require a new game anymore
Users of the old version are encouraged to undock and fly to a new sector and save (without docking) before installing version 5.00. This will help remove old spawns.
The Split Vendetta DLC has been made optional
Cradle of Humanity is required but if you don't have that installed, there are instructions in the archive how to remove the references to that DLC
