I cant get this to work.

I don't see the paint tab in any Wharf or Shipyard.

I can buy the paints at traders but nothing else.

I'm not sure what you mean. You buy the paint then to apply paints you right click the ship and click redesign.

Hey Axeface, love the work you've done with X4 mods. Unfortunately Paintjobs Galore and Neutral Engine Tints cause the game to fail at the load "Initializing" point. The only ones that work for me are Pimp My Paintjobs and Fresh off the Lot. I disabled all paint mods I had installed and tried yours one by one, but it still failed on Paintjobs Galore and Neutral Tints. FYI Freeq's paintjobs works. At the very least I'd like to have the Neutral Engine Tints working.

      Cheers

Same with the gray missile launcher mod, not a big deal for me as I haven't even tried to use that one up until now, but it seems like it will probably conflict with any colour changes for surface modules, as to why that is I can't say.

Can I just unlock them all without needing to buy them from vendors?

No, however there are other mods that add paintjobs like that.

Unfortunately I can't equip a whole fleeet with the same paint job. I'd prefer the way "paintjobs for sale" does it. I can simply buy any paintjob in any amount I like.

When you say entire fleet how many ships are we talking about? Ive equipped whole fleets in my games with my exceptional paintmods, just had to go to a teladi trading station or 2 and check all the traders there. I was thinking about making a cheaty submod for this mod to cater to people that dont appreciate the value that scarcity provides, even though I personally really dont like being able to buy any paintmod I want for 1 credit because it makes them feel like throwaway items to me. In fact this is the reason I dont personally use mods that add all paintmods to traders.

I would very much appreciate such a "cheaty" mod.

I'm curious if you have tried to make some of your paintjobs as the player's theme?

I tried to make some of your paintjobs the player's theme by creating a diff for themes.xml.

    For example:
    <replace sel="/themes/theme[@id='painttheme_player_07']/group/@paintmod">axesvirginian</replace>

Checking C.GetNumAvailablePaintThemes() using a LUA script results in 0 after the change. That means they cannot be selected in the empire menu (per menu_playerinfo.lua).

When the diff is removed, C.GetNumAvailablePaintThemes() goes back to reporting 8 available paintjobs and everything works.

The unhappy alternative is to hack paintmod_0006, paintmod_0048, etc. into something else.

I would prefer to do it the correct way if possible. Do you have any experience with this?

Hi! I was pleasantly surprised to see you have an artistic eye for this sort of thing. Usually mods dealing with aesthetic improvements such as paint jobs, decals, etc, have a tendency toward an unfortunate reality. (if you get 500, 3-9 of them will be great, 7-14 of them will be good, 30-50 of them will be so-so and the rest will be crap.) You did a GREAT job with pretty much everything you have shown here and I just had to have it. NICELY DONE!!!

"Damnit Jim! I'm a DOCTOR not a painter! You like red? Maybe I can provide a little arterial spray. C'mere a moment will ya?" ;p

Hey Axeface, your paintjobs really look awesome :)

i've installed them (extension folder), the mod shows up ingame under extensions but i can't find the new paintjobs if i try to redesign one of my ships :(

is your mod not compatible with the latest beta 3.30b4?

    thanks

    edit: ok, my bad :D
should have read the description first^^ ...gonna check out the traders now :)

Thanks, glad you like them. They are textures, vertex painting controls where they are applied and xml values control the colour/scale etc.

Really digging Revenant on my Dragon with Split components. The red and matte black looks so good.
