A slight improved version of the Rattlesnake, called Miranda. This is a homage for the Serenity.

Just added a couple of shields. Some more improvements might come up.
The Split tuned their engines and also the old Argon Thruster, they were still using. The first results were .... surprisingly good, but had a very bad disadvantage. They worked them over and finally released something, they could live with.
To remember that catastrophic failure, the chief of the shipyard, that developed them, who was female, insisted on the color on the ordering system so remind their engineers about their failure with the prototype until the end of all time.
DOH, Engines are bugged right now, please stay tuned, will fix this today.
Edit: Engines and Thrusters aren't bugged at all. This problem happens, if you claim a superior ship, because you don't want to board it. With the reduced hull the the Mirinda should be boardable and the problem shouldn't arise.
If you get this problem, simply sell the ship, it is broken by Egosoft, not me. The internal engineer and defence officer is missing. I tried to get the in the savegame manually, and that is a bitch.
