Hello on my install version x4 6.00 this does not work only standard detection and lockboxes are not marked. the scanner works now but lockboxes are still not marked
Without replying to each and every post on the subject, I am of the opinion that it would make sense that the false positives are not false at all and were put there by design on purpose. On to the explanation:
First, the false positive may be a low end PC built in helper, to get you moving in the direction needed, being in the direct path you need to travel. I have noticed this with the faster mod ships such as the Tornado from the Serenity Mod. I scan multiple times traveling 1200 to 1500 (out side of the cruise speed of 10k ish...) and scan repeatedly and the false positives will indeed move forward each scan until you come upon the detected object. You will often notice the detection stops jumping farther away and comes closer to you finally.
Second point comes from an observation around my headquarters that has many patrols and defense ships. From this I will note that they find lock boxes on patrol all the time (and being all capitol ship patrols they can't open them), and after so long they do expire and disappear, as all "left in space" loot does. You can observe this by going into SETA and staring at the box they found, as I have done waiting for mining ops from time to time, and after awhile, the loot isn't super useful as much as various ore becomes so I don't bother chasing them down and stay in SETA. Many false positives may just be a simple a thing as you moved way too slow to get there in time before it goes away with the unseen expiration timer. As such, quickly switching between cruise and long range scan should help you not miss any more boxes due to timeout, as the Tornado's default max is the same as many ships cruse speed, and you should have no trouble catching them that way. Just scan fast and get back too it, you won't slow down that much. If it stops finding it, some times it helps to stop and scan behind you, as it is easy to miss things in space and fly by going too fast. Flying by means you are really close though, and that is a good sign. Most capital ships and freighters are too slow, and cruise too long to start up to hunt down such things. Fighters are really the only thing you want to go hunting in for such items that don't fight back. ;)
Happy hunting everyone! Hope it helps you find more. :)
If you enable the logging of messages, you will see often the following 2 errors: [=ERROR=] 0.00 File I/O: Could not find file '.\extensions\increasedlongrangescan\content.xml.sig' [=ERROR=] 0.00 File I/O: Could not find file '.\extensions\increasedlongrangescan\libraries\parameters.xml.sig'
I checked your MOD and it has no signatures anywhere.
While I assume a modder /could/, technically, if they wanted to, add signatures to their mods, it wouldn't be super useful because X4 is only checking for valid signatures BY EGOSOFT, so that it can correctly detect which things are genuine parts of the vanilla game and which things are modifications. The messages you quote are harmless.
how can i identify the property of the ship making the radar bubble surrounding the ship to big for the sector im flying in, so borders start shifting away. wanted to make it back to normal size.. guess 100-200 km, instead of 2000 modded
Love this mod, works great. took the 1000km option for now.
Would you consider making changes to the short range scan aswell? its kinda annoying you almost have to bumb into stations to scan them. Think the default range is 200meters or something. A 500 or 1000 METERS option would be really nice.
