Can you explain what the "caps" mean? Ingame it looks like the stars increase by thirds, so if an action is "capped" at 12 does that mean it does not contribute to further raising skill past 4 stars?

Exactly. Every star corresponds to 3 points, hence 12 points = 4 stars. In original game most actions won't contribute beyond 3 stars, so they are basically useless and your pilots will need to solo other ships if they want to optimize the chances to level up (which is exactly the opposite of what happens in late game where fleet battle becomes the standard).

Seems to be balanced. After 50h, I mostly have 2 stars and some 3+ stars pilots. I guess 4 stars are really hard to get to - and 5 probably impossible ? You can still find them on stations though and they still cost an arm and a leg. So, balanced. For my playstyle at least. Thanks for your work.

      Thanks :)
Check my Crew cost mod for this (and the relative patch for seminars as well)

Thanks for the advice. After checking, I'll be taking home the rebalanced pilots cost but not the seminar stuff. I don't really hunt for seminars (50ish hours in I've got 6S1  2S2 1S3 so...) 'cause I like my pilots tempered by live ammo. Or sometimes bought mint-in-the-box but again, not hunting them just opportunistically found while moving around. So cheaper is fine (and the vanilla prices are ludicrous).
Bottom line is : doubly thank you for your work.

Hey, nice idea. But you missed a skill condition "ship_rescued_person".

In original game it has 1.0 base/falloff, it's basically an automatic successs, so I didn't touch it. Same applies to ventures and other minor entries.
P.S.: 'm open to change that if you think it's too high.

You should wait for suggestions from other mod-users. I've made nearly the same mod for my own use, but with some other values even a bit more vanilla like. You know that "gain-skill" preferences is matter of taste at least. But you have done a nice job doing a good weighted work with this mod!!!

Yes I know that, I added a tweak to that entry and corrected a typo in new version.
      Thanks :)

А не естественно оставлять десантников на "полигоне" для тренировок? Исчезает из списка персонала на какое-то время. Платим за обучение. Возвращается с 1-2 звёздами (в зависимости от способностей). И так до 3 звезд, а потом только практика.

Hi, if you're requesting a different script for training, It's beyond the scope of this mod (and my capabilities as well).

Привет, если вы запрашиваете другой сценарий для обучения, это выходит за рамки этого мода (и мои возможности).
