Version 1.1.0 allows to tag modifications as 'favorite', which should make selecting common ones easier.

Does this work with paintjobs that have been added by mods? It's a drag landing to buy paintjobs all the time, would gladly spend the extra credits if mod paintjobs are also affected by this.

For me the UI freezes after selecting a paintjob.

Create a bug report and provide a debug log. I will be able to check if there's a conflict or bug.

It works as expected when building new ships, I can select the paintjob I want and purchase it. But when I try to change the paintjob on a ship I already own by going to an upgrade dock, the menu does not appear and I can't pick any paintjobs. What could be the problem?

You need to use 'Redesign' opinion for that.

Nice appoach to the paintjobs, I do have a request for small improvement thought:

    - Could you somehow link the default paintjob to this logic also (so we can choose the default paintjob and it would by default buy the paintjob for all new ships
    - Or save the selected paintjob to loadout also.

      - allowing to pick default paintjob from all basic/enahnced ones should be doable - where I see a small concern is that player would get the paints for all his ships for free when changing defaults
      - vanilla game does not support paint jobs with loadouts IIRC, but I'd need to verify is adding that support would be viable
