This does not appear to work, at least in Public Beta 4. Just had ARG go postal on me in Second Contact. Only station that trades in illegal goods in that sector is mine. It doesn't even appear that any was traded recently. All I got was illegal cargo found then BAM... one ship goes aggro, then the entire sector.
This mod does not control police behavior, but fixes a scripted event, when a station would just cancel the trade, and force your remote trader to drop all illegal cargo. Even your own stations could force your own ships to drop their cargo. This happened even if the station's owner was hostile to the local police faction. I just rationalized that scripted behavior to be more realistic.
Huh... is there any chance you could modify police behavior in a future version? I'm tired of having to routinely mass murder ARG cops because somehow they psychically detected a trade happening on the other end of the sector.
Probably not. Once a Police scan begins, there's no way to interrupt. And there may be known instances of Police scans happening without asking you to stop, or even Police being nearby. That should be a typical niche for kuertee, the modder. Any further intervention is outside the scope of this mod. This just fixes the trade itself. If the trade is happening, there may be permanent reputation loss, but no Police will report hostility. The actual chance for this is 2.5% for each illegal trade. If the trade fails, the script will report hostility (revert to vanilla behavior).
