If 7.0 adds new factions, those factions will not be compatible with this mod until they are patched in. It will almost no longer be the case that the captains of aircraft carriers and battleships in the regular forces of major factions are rookies with less than one star.
The difficulty level increases as the NPC's AI becomes stronger.
There are some racial differences. Teladi and Boron fighter pilots have lower piloting skills and morale than other races, but trade ship pilots are superior to other races. Split produces fighter pilots of the highest skill and morale, but not many good trade ship pilots. Paranid and Terran are generally excellent. Yaki is a dangerous pirate with cybernetic enhancements that makes him extremely powerful.
