Hey great mod. Doing a savior playthrough and I cannot figure out your coding. I want to disable the other factions from being able to use this, how would I go about it?
Very nice ship model and it does resemble the old Centaur some of us are missing so much (among other things..) But unfortunately this ship, the way it is, does not have an actual purpose. I mean why would you use an L ship vs fighters when most M corvettes can do it waaay more effective. Beside some can even do way better vs capitals than this L ship. (cause M weapons > M turrets) Only purpose I see is maybe for players who want something actually closer to a frigate than vanila has to offer (considering the fact its the most missed and useless ship class in x4 compared to the previous games) so they can let turrets do the shooting. On the good side, Cyclops being smaller than other L class ships has better coverage so can be even more effective vs fighters than the other Ls, but then again, the main gun is really poor, since it takes at least 10 hits to bring down a M class ship so the conclusion is : - almost as sluggish as a destroyer but cant do a destroyer's job, - way more sluggish than a M class but cant do its job nearly as effectively. I mean its a nice addition to the game surely, its just that it exceless at nothing really so no point using it except for flavor and nostalgia.
You half answered your question yourself.... it excels at being a small fast L with tightly packed turrets, it shred fighters that get close in a way other L's don't. It has L shields with L shield regen thats what seperates capitals from M's. I just dont agree at all and think this ship excels at what its supposed to be, a small and fast capital that can throw itself into swarms of fighters and come out on top, you cant do that in an M unless you are jousting.
Even AI fighers can pack anti cap weapons that destroy an M class in 2-3 shots yet for this L takes it time to destroy a single M. Rescently ive seen some BUC pulsars that had pretty odd weapon setups that 1-2 shot heavy fighers and 3-4 shot a M, (6x Blast mortars etc) Since Cyclops is a L ship afterall, I think buffing the gun so it takes 4-5 hits to destroy an M ship instead of 10+ would be beneficial for his all around capabilities, but its up to you.
Hey man, love your mods. Especially your ships, Cyclops is probably my favourite ship in the whole game. Just wondering have you got any other ships in the works? Would love to see more of your designs. Keep it up.
Increased drone capacity to 14, reduced missile storage to 100 to compensate and reduced mass by 10 tons. Also increased people to 37. Also made these changes to handling: <physics mass="74.005"> <inertia pitch="54" yaw="54" roll="54" /> <drag forward = "20.075" reverse = "65.075" horizontal = "25.005" vertical = "25.005" pitch = "40.203" yaw="40.203" roll="40.203" /> </physics>
I iterated on these changes a lot to get to a point where it feels good for me, but if anyone wants to try, this feels as a nice spot for the ship, taking into account that the intended purpose is anti fighter warfare.
Great ship, but I've run into a strange issue. I can't seem to be able to select space stations by clicking on them when in 1st-person (in-cockpit) view when running this ship. Doesn't happen with any other modded ship. Just this one.
Any chance you'd look into this?
EDIT: I can still select anything that has a UI target reticule around it by clicking on the UI widget, but not by clicking directly on geometry. Everything works fine in 3rd-person.
I'll look into it, its probably something to do with the new physics engine and the position of the cockpit. This happens to some vanilla ships too I've noticed.
This is my absolute favorite ship mod. combined with split engines I can get a speed of around 309, which is faster than most S-class ships. My only complaint is that the drone capacity makes no sense. An M-class frigate can hold 10 but your L-class only holds 6. why?

I liked the maingun but the the annoying constant noise of the right console kills it for me ;(
