Unfortunately, disabling the effects with F1 seems to just break the visuals now in most cases. Simply walking down the staircase in the first level will show it. The F2 depth of field seems to work fine though
Hi, since updating v1.02 of the mod, 'Disable Screen Effects' is not working for the menu, for The Phoenix episode, and for the Vegas episode. It was working for all 3 before, on v1.0, for me.
I tried replicating what you said, that the screen freezes while playing the first mission on Moscow, I went through the entire mission and had no issues while both my HUD and all screen effects were toggled off.
Make sure you're running the game on DX11, that's the only thing I can think of. Is it consistently always doing this only on the first mission of Moscow? At what point in the mission? Which character are you playing as, and are you in first or third person view? Also difficulty? Give me as much info as you can so I can try to replicate the exact situation you were in.
Gunslinger class level 30 start with arc-103 first person view fov 1.30 Directx11 frameless display mode. 1 level mission Moscow the easiest difficulty as soon as the weapon appears in my hands I press F1 and after about 30-60 seconds the game freezes like a screenshot but if you move the mouse the allies' nicknames move. And if you immediately press F1 then the game works. Character ivan dovchenko
I'm still unable to get any freezing. Could be related to HUD or video settings, maybe?
Regardless, I've gone ahead and put out an update if you'd like to try and see if it fixes the issue. It now hides the screen effects with a pixel shader instead of vertex, but it's effectively the exact same thing as before. If you're still having the screen frozen issue with this new version, then you might be out of luck with hiding the screen effects.
It keeps crashing after reaching a certain point on the map. For instance, in the Descent map it will crash after reaching the first hallway. The whole screen goes black. When reading the logs, it seems to be searching for a UIMask.png in the Texture folder. This file isn't provided in the download. How can we fix this? Other than that everything seems to work and looks great!
I have no idea why that'd be causing a crash, but you can just create a blank png and name it UIMask, then place it in the texture folder. The one that comes with Reshade is just a placeholder blank one anyway.
Thanks for the quick response. I tried doing that and the UIMask.png error is no longer there. But the screen still goes black only except it goes black as soon as I get to the bottom of the stairs from the roof on the Descent map. There's a yellow error/warning indicating it's ignoring LoadLibrary(('api-mi-win-appmodel-runtime-l1-1-2') call to avoid possible deadlock. This error was here the last time too, but thought maybe it didn't matter so I didn't mention it, but it seems like that's the only error that could be causing this? Am I doing something wrong? Please help.
Are you sure this is caused by Reshade, because that just sounds like an actual game error. If it happens every single time you reach that same spot, then try removing Reshade's dll temporarily and do that mission again, see if it still crashes.
When I google what you said, "api-mi-win-appmodel-runtime-l1-1-2" I get results that this happens in other unrelated programs/games when you don't have Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 installed on your PC. You should probably install that regardless, a lot of stuff uses it.
