I have a new idea for you: Giving Triss the earrings from the start makes the quest to get them back useless, and I think that's a shame. Why not permanently give her only the top part of her earrings (just the rhombus) and have the upside-down triangle part added after giving her her earrings back?
Would you just need to modify the vanilla earrings in the game to remove the top part, and remove the bottom part from your own permanent model?
That is an interesting idea. Unfrotunatelly, it is not that easy. While I was able to fix the Triss' unqiue dyng (text based file responsible for telling how the movement of the object should look like) to make the earrings not be weirdly butchered, I was unable to fix the entity of the earring used as the item used by that quest. Said entity used as item in NPCs inventory for some reason does not support any dyng files. It makes the item not appear. There can only be a workaround.
Making the earring be present all the time is simply the easiest workaround possible. Not to mention I do think that is is strange for Triss to happen to have signle earring in her "bag" despite the other being lost for years now. She left all her stuff in her old house, including the Rose of Remembrance. She has no money, but she'd keep single earring just for sake? That's just very unlikely. Current update also changed the earrings to not shine so weirdl,; making it look like its not correctly loaded. Making it make more sense for Triss to not sell them as now it no longer looks like real gold which she would most likely sell.
However, if I'll manage to make it possible for the item entity to work as intended with dyng, I'll make the earring be tied to the quest as it should.

You're right, it's better to have the earrings permanently corrected and beautiful rather than a buggy version :)
