I have confirmed that turning off the use falloff results in a slight line. This is because I made a mistake in the edge processing of the heightmap and I will upload corrected version later. Also, the 8k resolution is overkill, so the corrected version will be 4k. The unmodified 8k set will remain as an option, so if you want to use it, please take care of the above.
Can you please give an idea how to import custom heightmap to Redkit? Or howe to create a new world with island surounded by the ocean? The tutorials offer just use terrain tools ike flatten etc but its quite unconvenient for large areas.
It is easier to create heightmaps with external software to do that work (of course there is a learning cost to learn how to use it). Free versions of terrain softwares often have restrictions on export (gaea1.0, worldmachine). Terrasculpter2.0 is a free tool with no limitations. It is a bit more difficult to use than other software.
Or the elevation of the first topographic plane is the midpoint between the maximum and minimum elevations. If the midpoint is set to be negative, the elevation of the plane will be negative.
hi, you can also download the free version of gaea if you want to easily create height maps, the maximum resolution for export is 1024 but I don't think it matters because the maximum terrain resolution in redkit is also 1024 per tile. There will be everything you want; mountain canyon, crater, erosion, etc...
Yes I agree. It is possible to create 1k heightmap for stamptool from scratch with gaea 1 community version. It is also possible to import heightmaps and edit them with gaea. As for the resolution of the stamps, a maximum of 2k is sufficient in REDkit. Even when creating full terrain in other software, 4k at most is sufficient for a single mountain range; 8k is overkill, hahaha. I would size down the additional heightmaps to at least 4k to save user's download data. Thanks for the useful comment.
