About this mod

Allows the player to pacify one of the Kaer Morhen trolls instead of killing him.

Were you ever annoyed by the fact that the game only allows you to either leave someone alone or kill them without mercy like a lunatic? So was I yet adding more NPC 'states' to the game would be very difficult hence I had to make use of what was already available. The mod idea is very simple and speaking purely based on technicalities I just added a check to make the Troll 'immortal' then another check so his state changes to 'neutral_to_player' and the quest progresses as normal once his HP hits 30%<. The mod should work on 1.31 - 1.32.

If you use the updated version of Kill 'Em All that I made you can still kill the Troll by accident so be careful. The Troll has no 'despawn' check so in theory he should always be in that cave.

The objective and journal log still say I killed the Troll. Why?

Those issues are related purely to localization. I do not speak the 10 or so languages the game supports so yeah. It is what it is.

Was the mod difficult to create?

I actually had more trouble fighting the red kit 2 than making the mod itself. The red kit 2 is really just a gimped version of the editor CDPR used to make the game with which is surprising because what they claimed is actually true. With that being said that also means the quality of the tools is not very high because game development is a mess. I did actually notice a few conditions for Axii so I might update the mod in the future so that Axii calms down the Troll too.

Did you change anything else?


I had to adjust the Trolls position because based on the default coordinates he clipped into the terrain and normally that is not a major issue because the Troll gets up as the player approaches him anyway yet now that the player can see him up close the clipping became very noticeable. The clipping is not fully fixed because 1. The siting animation itself is very weird. I doubt a Troll would sit like that but whatever 2. The terrain is uneven and I did not want to edit it because I would need to edit entire chunks which would change the overall look of the cave and 3. As I mentioned I had to 'fight' the red kit 2 because I am still learning the tools and there is not a lot of documentation about them out there.
