Nexus deleted 2 of my mods hence I decided to switch to [Blocked URL: Known disreputable website] for now: https://rpghq.org/forums/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=2915

I will publish all 'controversial' mods on there from now on.

Yeah I did notice that but wanted others to have a direct link to my profile in case they had questions. Thanks for posting the link for those who want to check out the site first.

If it was woke mods, Nexus wouldn't have deleted them.

Thx. It is strange. That mod was not offensive to anyone in any way. I really don't get it.

These mods was considered offensive by the so-callled "champions of tolerance and respect".

All trail textures are reused by different characters. Removing only enemy trails would require editing a lot of files which would cause a lot of conflicts. Not to mention stuff like debugging and possible game updates.

1 file can be referenced by a 2 file which is referenced by a 3 file etc etc. Basically a lot of work for almost nothing. Such a mod would be possible yet at that point I might as well open up ida pro and spend the next few weeks reverse engineering the games engine. The game does not even have official modding tools as of now. More than half of the modding scene improvised and so did I to an extent.

So if i wanted the effect for both of my swords do i install both or 1 or the other there's no install info any where that i can see just wanna make sure im downloading it right.
Also thank you for the update much appreciated

I tired installing both but script merger wants to know which mod should have priority so i feel like i didn't do this right. :(

Only install 1 version of the mod at a time. If you want to only remove sword trails download the No Sword Trails optional file.

So whats the difference between No Arrow and Sword Trails 1.1
      &
No Arrow and Sword Trails Aerondight 1.1?
( I would like to remove trails for both silver & steel + the arrows )

The Aerondight version removes an additional trail unique to said sword from Blood and Wine. I also made a version that keeps the trail because after all the sword is supposed to be legendary, magical and mythical etc etc you get the point. That aside both of those mods have the same functionality and remove all in-game sword and arrow trails.

    Thanks for making this mod!
Deflection of arrows still shows a trail where the arrow bounces of Geralt's sword. Hope you can remove that as well.

In case you were wondering I am still alive yet got 'distracted' by a few things. I did not forget about the issue you mentioned and will look into it once I have some free time which should be soon enough. Probably within 2 weeks.

I did attempt to look for solutions over 2 weeks ago yet stuff happened and I did not find time to look thru the w2p files to find the texture directory. Now I do however have free time, I will publish the edit in 2 days. One of the major issues was the fact one of my hard drives died and I had to recover data from multiple backups lol.

I fixed the trail issue. For some reason the deflected arrows use a separate gradient texture instead of the normal trail ones which means I had to edit a 'material' file instead of textures because the gradient texture is used elsewhere and making it transparent would affect other areas of the game. I will publish the updated files within a few minutes once I am done editing them. That aside I did recall your request a few days ago and planned to release the edits in a very similar time frame because I had free time anyway. I did not contact you sooner because I wanted to have the fixed files first instead of making another 'X amount of time' post and I assumed no one would would post on the mod page within the few days it would take me to to fix the mod.

I was very busy with other things on top of the fact I was away from my main PC for over a week which complicated things further. Enjoy the update I guess.

    Thank you for this mod!

It is worth to mention that (all?) monsters' attack trails and the Iris heavy attack trail are also gone which is something that the other similar but older mods didn't fully achieve (i used the "pesky sword trails begone" before trying lolzzl's version).

this is great for me, but i guess it would be good to maybe mention it in the description page.

I only tested alghouls/tailed endriagas + iris....not sure if any other monsters are affected (i am not aware of which ones have trails in the vanilla game other than the ones i tested).

All of the trails are in 1 folder aside from the Aerondight one. The sword only versions include monster trails yet I guess I could make a version that removes both sword and arrow trails without changing enemy trails. Iris does not have a unique trail (unlike Aerondight) hence the only ways to keep it's trail while removing other sword trails are either editing the swords effect file and changing the texture path or just editing all of the effect files without changing textures like the older mods. All of that is easy yet I saw no one complain hence I did not bother to make more versions of the mod with such edits. I removed the monster trails by default because they looked very goofy once the player ones were deleted and I assumed that when someone wants to get rid of trails they think about all of them.

Basically the game reuses like 6 trail textures and edits how they look thru w2p - w2ent files. Stuff like RGB values, size and how long the effect lasts etc etc. The same goes for many in-game textures - models. The game reuses a lot of stuff.

More difficult to return arrows/bolts to the sender but more satisfying when you succeed ^^

How hard would it be to remove only the light attack sword trails?
I want to keep arrow trails and heavy attack sword trails but don't know how to modify only the light attack ones, anyone has a simple explanation for removing them?

Many thanks, i wanted a version like this for some time, but i could not find anything like it, and with work now taking up most of my time i had no time to delve into learning how to mod this game myself
      Appreciate it!

Thanks! I started creating mods to fix issues I found annoying, I started publishing them because I thought others might find a use for them. Most of my mods are somewhat simple hence any edits to them do not take much time. I know the pain of wanting something yet not knowing how to do it yourself. The largest issue about Witcher 3 modding is the lack of proper up to date documentation hence if anyone wants to make their own edits they either have to ask around, brute force tools like wolvenkit - learn how witcher script works on the fly. Most users left the modding scene a while ago hence learning new things from others is not as viable as it used to be. Perhaps the new modkit will revive the modding scene somewhat.

This is that mod I didn't know I needed until I saw it. Thank you! The other day when taking a screenshot I noticed the trail and wished for a moment it wasn't there. Never occurred to me that they could be removed! Great work!

Thanks. Basically all in-game effects can be removed - changed btw. The largest issue is the fact there is no proper modding documentation that is still up to date hence many times I had to ask around - improvise yet despite that I still managed to make a few useful mods.
