Phaz42, please consider renaming this to "Tweaks Lite". It took me over a week of modding to figure out that this is supposed to represent a lighter version of the mod Tweaks and not a mod to tweak the lighting system.
Yeah, I know, I could have read the decription, but still...
I love this variation of Tweaks! My interest has been with the graphics settings and this delivers.
HOWEVER, I have been running into issues with this mod with Witcher3.exe hanging at start but not crashing... the exe starts, allocates memory, uses CPU but nothing is displayed! A revert of user.settings (or dx12 variant) fixes the issue.
After experimentation I found the culprit, TextureInFlightBudget. It is part of the Textures option of Supreme or higher:
If this is allowed to be set to 750 then I can no longer start the game.
Instead, if I lock that value to 500 my game runs perfectly fine:
<Entry overrideGroup="Rendering" varId="TextureInFlightBudget" value="500"/> <!-- over 500 = crash! -->
I am not sure if there is a VRAM limit on my machine... I rarely see it using all 16GB (4080) and this seems to trigger a hang before the GPU is fully exercised. It could be a combination of the other settings with the Budget...
This might help someone else, or I could be an isolated incident. :)
Nice :D But that's with DLSS3 FrameGen and DLSS2 set to what?
I have a 4090 myself, I use DLSS3 and DLSS2 Quality. Does absolute wonders for the framerate, without any serious detriments. It's absolutely crazy how expensive the 4090 is, but what it delivers is crazy as well. :)
no dlss, antialias set to TAAU. I can't enable dlss in any game so far, I read online that dlss doesn't support HDR, so may be that reason. I tried to enable fsr 2 set to quality and fps went to cap (60) and gpu usage drop to 70% lol
DLSS2 and DLSS3 are some of the greatest benefits of that card! I'd definitely look to get that fixed. And it surely works with HDR as well, using it myself. DLSS3 in The Witcher 3 is called "Frame Generation" and is under the Video\Display menu. DLSS2 is under Video\Graphics menu.
I found the bug: was related to steam. Now with frame generation and without dlss fps have almost doubled LOL (I use taau as antialias). The only "problem" is that I can't limit max fps
1. Use DLSS over TAA, in many games and especially at 4K output it looks better at Quality than TAA native.
2. On a VRR screen you should always limit your FPS slightly below your monitor's max refresh (and keep VSync on). Search for Nvidia Inspector to do so easily.
Thanks for this mod, seriously. :D I just got my hand on a 4090 at december last year, but i waited with my w3 replay for mods to get updated, and now that the time is here to do so, i noticed that tweaks got abadoned and not working with the new version of the game, and then when i thought its over and have to tweak everything manually i just saw this mod, i seriously love you :D
do you know how do you get as sharp textures as in your 1st screenshot ? I play on 4k ultra+ textures but some close up textures are really bad. for example the floor in kaer morhen during the uma transformation when geralt is whipping the floor, it's so pixelated/blurry ? wonder if it's fixed with this mod somehow ?
Could be something to do with MIP streaming, might try adjusting that setting. Basically, instead of loading all the textures all the time it streams the textures from your hard drive based on what the camera can see, unfortunately this can lead to blurry textures if the streaming isn't optimized.
Grass density settings do not work on DX11. The line '<<Var id="Virtual_GrassOptionVar" displayName="grass" displayType="OPTIONS" tags="customPresetIfChanged" >' has an additional < at the start which is directly related to the issue.
I'm maybe alone with this problem, but I find the overall underwater lighting way too bright. As if some extra lightsource switched on as soon as Geralt starts diving... What do you think, is it possible to do something with it? I want real dark subterranean underwaters, so potions like cat or killer whale could have some sense!
Yes, underwater looks terrible. Way too bright and just not very nice. Someone should make a mod for that. :P As far as I know, nothing can be done about it currently. It not quite as bad in every location, but it's never good...
Well, at least I'm not alone then. Good old Immersive Lighting did a great job with it, but I haven't tested the next gen version so far. Seems abandoned... Anyway thanks for your answer!
Wondering if you can give me an answer, but i'm understand what you only port a part of original mod to actual version of the game.
I really like faraway trees looks with this mod, but overall fps hit is to heavy for me (~5-20 fps depends on location). I tryed to change some settings, but still get a huge fps hit. Can you tell which settings are coverage the far (LOD maybe) areas and where i can find them to change to my taste?

What happens if you enable either one of those?

The option was greyed out for me before doing these steps.

Edit: Or is it only the well in WO?
