I recommend school of the wolf despite it's problems for first person.
W3EE_Styled_Combat_NF_2 adds a long movement when using a default light attack. This is problematic when you expect to hit short, but your character does a long (normally controllable with the modifier keys). There's a lack of control.
School of wolf feels better, but m1 does the same attack every time - you have to hold the mouse down to do the second attack, and then click to do the 3rd which is jarring.
Normally you'd expect m1 m1 m1 to do attacks 1, 2, 3 - but this does attacks 1,1,1
In File Archives there's a second version W3EE_Styled_long_combat_V2 wanted to give that a try , could you maybe me upload and pm me ? other ones too close to original Also fan of your work <3
the installation instruction is a bit unclear for me at least. do i have to put it in Witcher 3 mods folder or witcher 3 mods folder and then w3ee and overwrite the files inside?
i use School of Wolf optional file with SCAAR, so my light attack animation repeats the same"one step forward cutting". So is it working properly? Or i missed sth so i messed up? I am using OLD GEN.
I hate trying to install combat mods for NG mf NOTHING WORKS. I always get some stupid error. No conflicts on the script merger and this shows up:

My guy at first W3EE is not built for NG second of all you should read the description it says replace the Combo system file with the one in the original file of W3EE
Using the 2nd file, removes all spins / jumps from light animations. Love this mod. I always found the spinning a little ridiculous and this mod makes the combat feel a lot more grounded in reality. Keep up the good work!
I can confirm the issue with light distance attacks not triggering to close with enemy at range. Tested using w3EE Redux on NextGen
It's great to see new update for W3EE. And it would be better if we can see comparing photo or video about the combat animation with and without the mod.

That's great about the Next Gen version, can you tell us, plase, when will it be done ? Because i want to start a new playthrough and i don't like the balancing o the vanilla game.
Your banner didn't mention that it was a "combat rework" (only the title do but I saw it much later) so I thought it was another overhaul of the overhaul lmao, which redux is already doing quite well. Your animations are actually really nice
One important thing though long distance light attacks are not working, it's acting like I pressed no modifier at all, everything else (heavy with long distance modifier and both light and heavy with medium) are working. Tested using styled version on EE redux.
V2>> v2 changed too much the normal swings attacks with no modifier, I like better vanilla normal swings because it got more differents swings. Fixed>> my fav, love the jump attack (heavy with distance modifier) but there is just one light attack with distance modifier. Impossible to have another. It makes it a bit repetitive v1>> No long distance attack modifier with lights

V2 actually focus on changing the swings so ! If you like the original W3EE combat the closest you can get is the Fixed and also fixed only have one long range attack
That's why fixed is my fav, but as I said It could use another light attack. Having only one when vanilla had 2 make it feels like it doesnt have enough variety. Maybe just add that v2 second light attack? the step on 1 foot attack that v2 sometimes do? (The one that comes from vanilla changing direction attack with modifier) But please make it combo or come as often as vanilla pirouette.

no you should install The W3EE mod then replace this file with the The same name inside the W3EE
