- Horse Kit: Fully compatible with patches 1.12/1.11/1.10/1.08. Also working with patches 1.31/1.30/1.24/1.22. To fix Roach's texture resetting back to default while in Toussaint, install the WTR 1.0 Patch. - No Black Roach: (old 'Roach Forever Add-on') updated as a standalone mod. Working with patches 1.31/1.30/1.24/1.22.
Most likely, there are no more major updates to come. I'm retired from modding for now. Thank you all for your support!
TIPS
Hello newcomers and old users! Here are some good ol' tips on how to get the best use of the current versions of the mod. Help yourself:
( 2 ) Do you want to add a little color to every horse in your game, INCLUDING Roach?
- Then use the ALL version. - Roach is a brown mare and uses the texture of the 'Brown Shades'. - If you use KNG's More Horses Mod, you're able to change Roach's shade - and consequentially her texture.
2.1 - Do you want MORE variety?
- Then use the OPTIONAL packs - instead of the ALL - for each type of horse you'd like to change. - Just beware of patch's texture limitations that may (or may not) cause you problems when installing too many texture mods.
2.2 - Do you want all that PLUS a completely unique Roach?
- This mod is still fully compatible with the unique Roach textures from Fera's Roach and Horse Overhaul. - If needed, when installing the TAME pack, select the 'Roach Compatibility' version in the installer.
( 3 ) Do you want to change the BLACK ROACH?
- Just use the ALL or TAME pack together with the standalone mod NO BLACK ROACH. It'll be like nothing ever changed. - And now again you're able to follow the previous tips to change Roach even further if you want so.
3.1 - Do you simply wish to improve BLACK ROACH a little?
Hey, first of all: love the mod. Thanks for the great looking horses!
Now for my odd little problem: As the commenter 2 posts below me, I can also change literally any horse in the game except Roach. (1.32 all DLC). Skin, that is. Eyes, tail and mane from Fera's Overhaul mod work fine.
I've been trying for an hour - with both this mod and Fera's Roach Overhaul - but something just prevents Roach from changing body textures. I'm at the very start of a new game in the first village, have still tried the Touissant fix but expectedly that made no difference either. The only other mod I have that touches Roach at all is Friendly Stash (horsemanager.ws) and changing load order or merging with the fix did nothing with that either. Frankly, I'm approaching my wit's end.
Any hints what else could keep Roach "stuck" in her old skin? I'd be very grateful for even vague pointers right now.
First of all, I'm sorry I'm only now seeing your post. I am retired of modding for the time being and I haven't logged in to the site in a long time. Second of all, thank you - and you're welcome :) So, is this problem persisting to this day and/or would you still like some help? Just let me know, I'll stick around for at least a few days. Have a nice week!
The banner of the mod: the Wild, the Tame and the Roach is that a reference to the western the good, the bad and the ugly one of the best westerns ever?
They all look amazing... Awesome... i just a little confused, more wich mod manager to use, till now i used witcher manager and manual install, but this doesnt seem to be the case for this mod... so wich shall i use and install? Endorsed btw :) 1- wich mod organizer should i use: 1 or 2? 2- is vortex good as well? 3-i wanna change absolutley all horses except no roach, so i must get all optionals only... right?
UPDATE: Vortex works great, chosed all optionals mod, roach compatibility in tame, works flawlesly :)
Hey so I have an odd bug. The mod worked beautifully pre-Blood and Wine. Now, even with the fix installed, Roach is the default color. All of the other horses are custom still except for Roach, how do I fix this?
In Toussaint, the game uses a different Roach, so she will use the mod skins everywhere except there. I recommend using Fera's Roach and Horse Overhaul to choose your Roach skin.
I haven't been really active lately, but now I see your post I think you have a good suggestion here. I'll do that as soon as possible :D (Only the meshes though, as there are too many options for the textures and its combinations.) I'll also try to update the mod's description page to include more detailed instructions.
Could you look if it's possible to fix the Devil Caparison of Lament Saddle bug because of which an eye is missing from Roach (they would normally be white, both..) I don't know if you could maybe put them both white, black or red.. but at least make something because it's lore breaking.. your work is awesome and I'm convinced you could do that, thank you :)
Hello there! Could you please provide me with a picture (and maybe a save file) of what you're talking about? Also, if you have any other mods installed, it'd be good to know. I haven't played The Witcher in a while, and I don't think our mod changes any eye textures the way it is for now - but I'll do what is possible to reproduce your bug and see what can be done about it :)
The horse will have one black eye and one white. Alternately the black one is not there at all. In Toussaint the missing eye is replaced by a regular eye, which I believe is a mistake, but not necessarily a bug
Here's a picture of what happen, and no matter if I'm using a clean vanilla save or modded as hell, no matter if it's on NG+ or normal, and I'm not the only one who had this issue, thank you for looking http://imgur.com/a/ufkpC
Your mod looks really awesome. Unfortunately, I can't get it to work correctly. It only seems to change horses in Toussaint (I chose the All Horses mod) and there it only changes brown horses. I have a black Roach, through my game decisions and can't seem to change her, althouth the description suggested it would, as far as I understood it. I also created a mod.settings file, as suggested in the mod's ReadMe, although it's the only mod I use for the game, but it had no effect. Well, actually I'd been looking for a way to set the horse, the game used as a "unicorn" in the palast quest as my default Roach, since it seems to have a unique sheen. I even road to my vineyard with it during the quest, hoping it would stay there (like wild horses for example do), but it didn't work. Are you still working on this mod and do you think a future version might include that unique horse? Didn't find it in other available mods, either.
Hello! It is possible, but you got to merge the textures and meshes separately, I did just that here :)
The odd numbered folders are the textures: 1-Dark, 3-Light, 5-Brown; and the even numbered ones, the meshes: 2-Dark, 4-Light, 6-Brown. It needs the texture-mesh pair for it to work, so just install everything to your liking (WILD + TAME + RACEHORSE for maximum customization) and then merge only the odd numbered folders (textures). Leave the even numbered folders as they are or merge them separately.

Here are some good ol' tips on how to get the best use of the current versions of the mod. Help yourself:
( 1 ) Do you want to change ONLY Roach?
- Then you should take a look at Fera's Roach and Horse Overhaul or AMM instead. The Horse Kit is for every horse, including Roach.

I got too many texture mods so I have to combine them lol.
