have u tried borderless instead of fullscreen? im on a 3070, but in fullscreen the game tabs itself onto the desktop after switching a preset - maybe some ppl think its crashed, but it isn't. in borderless though just the ESC menu pops up.
I'd love to try your preset, but anytime I install Reshade, specifically the dxgi.dll file, it takes my 10 second launch/load time to 3 1/2 minutes and not only for the first load of it; happens every time. I've no idea what's going on, or how to fix this. If you have any ideas please let me know.
hey there, i never heard of that issue and idk what could cause this. it could be your pc, your mods, reshade version, wrong installation, the game itself... my first game start after booting the pc takes some more seconds than every start afterwards, but that's it. i assume u know how to install reshade - maybe try a fresh install with the newest reshade version and only load up the needed effects thru the reshade installer by browsing my preset. that way reshade doesn't need to load every single effect.
My system: rtx3080 12GB Ultra Gaming/i5 12600k/DDR5 memory/game on WD_Black SN770 as a separate drive from the OS drive.
I can't imagine any mods would cause this. I've never had a mod cause anything remotely like this with a Reshade. I'll keep that in mind as a last resort to look at though.
I've read and slowly and meticulously installed the latest Reshade at least 6 times. The game is Witcher 3 fully updated in nex gen.
Thanks for taking the time to respond. Much appreciated.
u r right of course, mods do usually not interfere with reshade and even on my old potato i never had such issues. have u tried browsing the preset, so the reshade installer only installs the needed files? and 2) does the issue come up with every reshade version + on dx11 and 12? also do u use the regular version or the reshade with addon? because the addon version works kinda poorly for me. i guess u have googled already for this and i hope u will find a solution, because i have no idea why this should happen. and of course i take the time for nice ppl. u r not one of those who just complain "doesn't work" without any info or "my pc transformed into a xbox"...
Just to let you know, I spent hours on this today and never got it working. I'm in exactly the same place as when I started. When the dxgi.dll file is The Witcher 3\bin\x64_dx12 folder my launch/load time is 3 1/2 min.; when that file is removed from that folder my launch/load time is 10 seconds. This is in the nex gen version of the game, fully updated, using dx12 to enable ray tracing.
sry arcline, i really can't help you on that any further. this is not normal, that's all i can say. try starting the game without rtx and activate it ingame - last straw. we can discuss this via pm but pls no more in the comments section, since it has nothing to do with my reshade.
Thank you for your generous reply. For clarity let me say up front this problem has nothing to do with your preset. Simply installing the Reshade without add on causes the problem and it happens exactly the same if with any preset. I've successfully used Reshade and presets for years, most recently in Cyberpunk and the 1.32 version of Witcher 3. That's what makes this current problem so vexatious. Late note: I installed your preset and the load/launch time of around 3 1/2 min. remained unchanged. I'm not sure how to check what shaders you're using since there's no shaders file with your preset. There's a wall of text in your .ini's; perhaps those are the effects IDK. Bottom line, no difference.
I can successfully install Reshade version 4.5.3 and version 5.5.2 to the dx11 witcher3.exe. and the launch time is under 10 seconds in both cases. If I try and install ver 4.5.3 to the dx12 witcher3.exe it's CTD on launch every time.
I found one post on the Reshade forum, several months old, complaining about "now having very long launch" time. There was no reply to the message. I posted there and have received no reply. I've posted about 4 times on this to different forums, receiving one reply saying "Works for me". I asked that poster a follow up question and have received no reply. Extensive googling has turned up nothing to date.
I have also browsed a preset, not yours, deleting all shaders from the installed shaders folder that were not in the preset. It was a simple preset with few files. Same exact issue happened. Seems like no matter how few shaders I have in the installed Shaders folder just having the dxgi.dll in the Witcher 3\bin\x64_dx12 folder causes the 3 1/2 min. launch/load time.
Short answer would seem to be: Reshade 5.5.2 works perfectly fine installed to the witcher3.exe dx11 file in the bin/dx x64 folder, causes 3 1/2 min. load on launch times when installed to the witcher3.exe dx12 file in the x64_dx12 folder.
I want to be able to use reshade presets in the nex gen version of Witcher 3 which requires dx12 for it's ray tracing.
That's about it. I did extensive installing/reinstalling/dx11/dx12/installed Reshade in performance mode turning off ray tracing... during the composition of this message. At the moment IDK what else to try.
No problem. I'll bow out here. Thank you for all your time and attempts to help me out. Yes, I've tried launching with ray tracing off in the save file I'm launching and it's the same problem. Cheers and thanks again :)
-Copy&paste my Reshade ini's into the Folder where you installed Reshade in - sorry i didnt understand this part in game cine preset all that is availble and working i just wanted to know what does this part means
so u installed reshade in folder dx11 or 12, right? simply put my reshade ini's in one of these folders - where you installed reshade in. that's what this means (:
im loving it i always like dark and sharp tone this reshade gave me that feel keep up the great work just made foliage quality to medium and grass to high for 60 fps on my 3060ti
glad u like it (: speaking of dark - u can also try my grimshade preset. it is dark and gritty. do u play with ray tracing? because u should get way more fps with ur graphics card.
For some reason this reshade preset crashes my game(and it causes a lot of fullscreen flickering before that happens) I tried some other presets and some of them work fine while others behave similarly, I guess it could be a shared fx file or something?(I got a 3080ti and updated to the drivers.)
CcaidenN, u already stated that u got issues with reshade on the NG Witcher 3 - i told u to talk to the other guy with a 4090. all i can say is that i have no issues. only thing that happens in fullscreen mode is 1 or 2 times the game tabs itself out to the desktop - just tab in the game again. if u wanna prevent this, switch to borderless mode and the game only opens up the ESC menu one time. idk how all this works with dx11 and if there are even issue, because i play on dx12.
depends on different things why ur fps go down - the reshade is non of them. but i don't wanna spoil it for you... even in novigrad i don't get down to 30.
as the description says - u should disable the ingame sharpening, but do as u like. and there is nothing locked or anything like that - u can change the effects as usual.
im still wondering if ppl ever wanna read what is on the description page... :D i mean we don't do these for fun. they got a purpose. anyway, yes there are some things blurry because of the DoF - use the hotkey to turn it off in menus.
I've installed reshade on dozens of games without issue. But there's something about this next gen update that makes my game super unstable if I install reshade. I read it has something to do with DLSS 3 frame generation.
well, i can't help u at all with dlss 3 because im using 2. i just know that dx12 isn't really well implemented into witcher 3, so lets hope cdpr will change something. btw, another user using my other reshade has a 4090 and he has zero issues with it. maybe try it without frame generation.
im really wondering why so many have trouble with game crashes etc. i hope u get it running tho. the hood is from the "hood toggle" mod or some like that. it already got updated for v4.0 (:

a reshade doesn't do anything besides changing colors :D

It is too sharp to like, but every time I try to change it says that I cannot because it is not allowed or something like that.
