Hi there! thanks for this resource - this is really useful!!

ive managed to edit the armors for some npc characters - but now I want to give lambert a unique silver sword (Bear School silver sword)
Do you know where i can find the silver sword template within the lambert.w2ent file?

Also - after following your tutorial - tried packing the mod - but it says "Packing bundles failed. No metadata will be created"
Then when i open the resulting mod file - it just shows content - when i open content it is empty :(

Do you know how to fix this?

    Thanks so much!!! :)

I don't know why you're receiving that error. Possibly you don't have some files in the correct place. If you can upload a picture of your project, I can see if anything looks incorrect.

Regarding Lambert, you can update his inventory item.

I don't see any obvious errors with your project. It should pack & install without any issues, assuming you have wcc_lite and the exe properly defined.

actually - think i just figured it out!
my wolvenkit was installed in the wrong location - packing properly now!

only thing is now the bodies are not showing, the heads and swords appear floating? basically the same issue that tavigg (user below me) was having -

      they said they did this ;
" LE I finally did it. Problem was i  didn't put the w2went.buffer file..... thank you very much for help
i edit the flatcompiledata but in the main file changes are not saved...i think this is the problem"

im not sure what this is describing, especially with the buffer file - if you could offer some advice?

      Many thanks, once again!!!!

Did you change the filepaths for Lambert's appearance? The .w2ent does not need a buffer file nor do you need to edit the flat compiled data. If the bodies are missing, the most likely cause is that you changed something in their appearances. Make sure that your file paths are correct and that they point to correct .w2ent files not .w2mesh files. You can't reference meshes in the appearances, only entities.

ah - so im changing the armor of both eskel and lambert to grandmaster bear armor, and grandmaster manticore armor respectively - so youre saying that the w2ent path of these armor pieces is different than the w2mesh file path location?

      Any advice would be great!
      Thanks again!!

Hmmm... I'm not sure that works the way you think. Those items exist for Geralt but not for other NPCs, and I don't think you can assign armor for Geralt to NPCs (I've never tried it). You can start with assigning them armor designed for NPCs (a simple test would be to swap Lambert <---> Eskel just to verify that your methodology works. If it does, then you'll know you can't attach Geralt's armor that way. You'll have to find others in the game to assign to them if you want to change them.

if it helps - this guy seemed to do it; https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/2793

but im not sure how? is there a way you might be able to solve this issue? the reason im not using this mod is because i also want to change the swords for each witcher - so i think this will conflict?

      Thanks so much man!! :)

I don't know without dissecting that other mod to see how he did it. What you can do is install that mod and then use your own .w2ent file and point it to the same filepaths in that mod. And then in your file, update the sword. Just give yours higher priority. The .w2ent will conflict but as long as you match the appearance and give yours higher priority, it should work.

      Do you mean WolvenKit?
      https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/3161

Not sure if you mean Blender because that is the program you need to edit 3D models. You can Google search for that one and download it.

Hy there!!! You know if this is working with 4.04 version of the game? I tried the steps within you pdf but seems that are some differences...the chunk list is not the same.

The concepts and file paths are mostly the same. The chunk lists are in the same place but maybe slightly numbered differently with minor differences. You should still be able to use this guide to learn the steps.

i succeeded in the end but i'm so far from what i want to do. I want  to make Triss  nude all the time using the tattoos from this mod. Any advise where should I begin?

You need to import the quest entity from that mod and then change all of her appearances to nude.

I'm sorry for bothering you and for insisting but how can i use the wals_02_wa__body.w2ent from the tatoo mod without that mod be enabled. if i disable it my new mod does not know from where to take the file and i end up with a floating head.....

I'm sorry, but I am not familiar with how that mod works. I have never used it. I'm assuming that only Triss has the tattoos, not all NPCs using the twals_02 body. If that is the case, then the author must have created a unique path for Triss. Otherwise all NPCs that use the twals_02 body will have the tattoos.

If you don't want that mod to remain installed, then you will need to import all part of it including the texture. That is more advanced and not something to cover in a few simple steps. That is why I recommended to pull in this file:
           quests\main_npcs\triss.w2ent

And then change all of her appearances so that they match her nude appearance. Save it and then create it as a mod. Make sure it has higher priority over the mod you referenced.

tank you so much. i succeeded to make the steps you mentioned above earlier but it did not work until now when i set the correct priority. thank you for confirming that I took the correct steps until now.
but please point me from where i can learn how to import all part of a mod (including textures) to make a new one like in this case. i mean a forum, a webpage, a tutorial from somewhere. i don't want to bother you any more.
      thx again.

Unfortunately, I don't know where there is documentation. It is tribal knowledge. But basically you have to import all of them into WolvenKit and then convert the textures from .tga to .xbm. It's not difficult but there are several steps and requires deeper knowledge than what this tutorial goes into. You can join the WolvenKit server on Discord. There should be people there that can help you with the use case you are seeking.

Hello again and and forgive me for bothering you again.
I made much progress since we spoked last time, all by myself and some forums ..lol. Overall i manage to make triss naked all the time with  tatooees from Triss Tattooed Unique body and Skin- 4K but I'm stuck on a glitch  that also appears in original mod. I want to remove triss necklace because it is only partially visible like in this screenshot. Where can i find this item to remove it because it's not in appearances/included templates and i can't find it anywhere else...
      Thx.

Yes, that is common. Her necklace is in her folder. I forget the exact path but it should be something like:
      characters/models/main_npcs/triss

I don't have access to my computer at the moment so I can't look it up to give you better information. But if I remember correctly, it is the only mesh labeled with an i at the start of it. You need to open the mesh and delete reference to the texture to make it invisible.

Other mods have done the same thing. You can look around, find one that does it, and then look inside that mod to see how the author did it.

I'm not certain if a complete version exists in the files. I seem to remember seeing it at one point, but I can't remember if it was a mod that I saw. If it doesn't exist in the files, then you'll either need to edit it yourself using Blender or see if there is another mod that already completed it.

      Hy there....
First  of all Triss is all well  (and naked with medallion). Now i'm struggle with Ciri and  i'll try to find out some more information from you if you haven't had enough of me yet. Do you know how to edit ciri\body_01_wa__ciri.w2ent because in wolven kit any changes I make the game ignore them!!! This is for the phase in the game when you play Ciri. In you mode Should be Nude your body_01_wa_ciri.w2ent has component  s_05_wa__novigrad_citizen and if i deleted it in the game ciri still wears them..

You need to edit the player entity when you play as Ciri. The quest entity is for when she is an NPC.

      characters\player_entities\ciri\ciri_player.w2ent

Then you didn't update something correctly. The player entity and the quest entity both need to point to that file. And when you edit the file, you need to edit the flatCompiled data. And within the flatCompiled data, it needs to point to a valid mesh. This is the process for all entities.

do you know why in your nude  mod B06.Ciri in winter appearance for ciri.player.w2ent the coloring entries have no effect for s_05_wa__novigrad_citizen(boots). Syntax  seems the same as in the other appearances but here it has no effect. I want to make them (the boots) some kind of withe but they remain red....

You have to define clothing colors in the entity. It requires defining the appearance and the mesh item by name.

This is cirila_player.w2ent with ciri_player and ciri_winter with the same coloring entries. In ciri_player is changing the colour but in ciri_winter  not....
      This is body_01_wa__ciri_fur.w2ent.
      I'm missing something.

I haven't really modded Geralt, so not totally positive the steps to do that. I think you need to edit this file:
      characters\player_entities\geralt\geralt_player.w2ent

And replace his head with this:
      characters\models\secondary_npc\eskel\h_01_ma__eskel.w2ent

Thank you for this pdf, learned lot about wolvenkit modding thanks to this.
I tried to use this method to remove some ".redcloth" clothing items by editing their ".w2ent" file(ex:- "****\***\Mod\Bundle\dlc\bob\data\characters\models\main_npc\anna_henrietta\body_02_wa__anna_henrietta.w2ent"). But I couldn't remove them. Do you happen to know how to remove those .redcloth items

Yes, you are on the right track. When you edit a .w2ent, you have to also edit the flatCompiled data. In that file you referenced, on the CEntity #0 level, look for a block labeled flatCompiled data. Then open. You will see it open a new tab. In that tab, navigate to the redcloth and then delete the link to the mesh (the redcloth px). Save all and then pack & install the mod.

I was just randomly looking through these comments here and tried the suggestion of paulr0013 and it worked. would you consider making a tutorial for an outfit replacer? I'm trying to use this tutorial to put Triss's DLC dress on Keira and maybe I'm just stupid but it isn't working T-T

That's pretty straightforward. You would need to delete all of the items from Keira's village witch appearance, leaving only her head (h) and hair (c). Then copy only the dress over from Triss into Keira's file. Save, pack & install.

You can send me a DM if you need more help.

Hello, I tried to do it as well, to copy mod from Triss to Keira’s appearance but her outfit was all on red. I noticed that in the Templates there is one category missing in Keira’s code about coloring. I tried to somehow add a new category but for some reason it’s not possible. Any tips. :))))

You have to add the color definitions. Keira's file doesn't contain the color definitions for Triss' outfit. You need to copy the field "coloringEntries" into Keira's file. Then expand it and define the appearance name and the article of clothing that you are defining. It will look like this:
