Although other mods have found very good script solutions to the oil sorting problem I was still planning on updating this mod for those that wanted an alternate XML solution, however because of the sorting changes brought in patch 1.10, this xml solution appears to be no longer possible.
Is there any chance of making it compatible with "Proper Oil and Bomb Icons" (http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/647/?) Help a poor wretched in need! Pretty please...
I cannot get this working with [modBetterIconsOilsSmallText] or any kind of better oil icons, i tried priority 3 , tried 0 i tried everything... using latest update
Do i need both the main and optional? Because i use only the optional file but its still not working
Downloaded, set priorities in Mod settings file with Better Icons Small Text loading after Sorting Oils, worked fine. Thanks, I have been annoyed at the vanilla sorting of potions since I first played. Minor suggestion.. because I had to reverse search to figure out how to create a Mod Settings file and where to place it, include a readme of 'how to create and use the file'. Otherwise you will be fielding questions for a while.
Now if you also can sort the all potions after all decoctions (I mean, not like vanilla game where some potions are sorted between some decoctions), that will be perfect to accompany this mod.
I have just added this mod to my list of active mods and it seems not to be working and other mods won't work as before... So, here's what I did:
-I use Better icons and its folder on Mods base folder is called: "modBetterIconsOilsSmallText" so I did: -create the mod.settings file with this content: [modBetterIconsOilsSmallText] Enabled=1 Priority=3
[modOilSortOrder] Enabled=1 Priority=2
So... do I need to PUT THERE all my other mods listed or that allows to have priority for those Better Icons and Sort oils related to work together; so, as I have only listed those 2 mods in the priority file, what supposed priority have the other mods, lower or higher?
I understand I need to "load" Better icons first and then your sort oils to avoid removing parts from your mod, right? But then again, where do the other mods/base game stand in here, with higher priority value (so they load AFTERWARDS) or lower...? But I see no much lower range is there...
Thanks in advance.
PS: I did not need that file to exist as none of my other mods overlap with each other (when ws case, I have merged and are working as expected, without adding oils sort).
PS2: OK, only this does not sort bombs/oils/potions-decoctions but does not interfere with other mods behaviour. I checked that.
PS3: Also, I wanted to say that I have all 4 "better icons" mod parts: for potions, oils, bombs and decoctions; do I need to add all those 4 mods in higher priority order to work with 1.1 of yours (for better icons)?
I am also using all 4 "Better Icons" files, you should make sure you are not using “Oil Sort Order-1.1” this file is for Vanilla users. “Oil Sort Order_B-icons-1.0” is the only file “Better Icon” users should install.
The strange thing in your case is that even if using 1.1 your oils should be sorted, but missing some icons. So make sure there are no other mods changing oils (overhaul mods may edit many files). You could also try setting “Priority=1” for [modBetterIconsOilsSmallText] and “Priority=0” for [modOilSortOrder] to bypass any other mod interference.
About the “mods.settings” you do not need to add all files. Something to have in mind is that load order is always being assigned whether you have a mod.settings file or not, mods not added to this file (or if it has not been created) I believe are assigned their load order alphabetically.
well, I supposed something like that (on laod order). Truly I configured in the past that fule, but I do not need it as nothing else but BEtter oils and this Oils sort are affecting those icons (as far as I know).
I used the 1.0 for Better Icons compatibility, yes.
The thing is, am I doing it RIGHT using this: [modBetterIconsOilsSmallText] Enabled=1 Priority=3
[modOilSortOrder] Enabled=1 Priority=2
I understand it will LOAD before oilSort and will add its stuff (I am not able to open those packaged files... not habving the modtools downloaded...) and LATER, over those icons (if those are present on OilSort) the Better Icons (with text on them) will be overlapping the OilSort ones. My question is, does only need this mod the blob0.bundle and metadata.store to work? I guess yes, as it is how it is coming and everybody else has it working... So, no need to add to the load list the other parts of "Better Icons"? I guess not, but... ¿¿??
I can try to set the other mods containing blob0.bundle and metadata.store files with lesser priority number (load before) to see if MAYBE any of those is overriding this ones... but then, why I get the text icons from Beeter Icons??
Did not consider that, not in NG+ yet so I’m not sure. Going to check it out.
Edit: can confirm the mod works in NG+, make sure you don’t have other mods changing oils, specifically any that adjust the “def_item_alchemy_oils.xml” file.

Not compatible with patch 1.10

Let’s see I uploaded some example “mods.settings” files to the miscellaneous section check those out and see if it helps.

Hulkspidey thad does bother me actually, will look into that.
Btw about NG+ compatibility, I can confirm the Better Icons compatible version of this mod works fine with NG+.

[modBetterIconsOilsSmallText]
Enabled=1
Priority=1
[modOilSortOrder]
Enabled=1
Priority=0
See if that works. Also Make sure your settings file is named “mods.settings” and not “mod.settings”
thanks to all...
I could say
:|... I FOUND OUT THE "PROBLEM"... to be a typo in "modS.settings"... I missed the s from MOD...
UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!
The S-damnation...
Well, it works OK and using quick filter when everything disordered sets it up to order (bombs>oils>potions/decoctions).

To test it out, I loaded an early NG saves then the mod works.
What you are missing is a “def_item_alchemy_oils.xml" file in another folder "items_plus" (your mod only had "items" folder)
I did it myself, and repack your mod. Now it works in NG+.
My suggestion is you fix your mod by including "items_plus" folder then repack and upload it to nexus for another player to use.
