Would you consider doing something similar to the gryphon set?
If not, could you give me some starter pointers on how you made this mod? I have the mod kit but no idea what I'm supposed to edit, I would like to make some similar tweaks to some of the witcher sets.
It's not difficult at all. The hardest part is locating the specific piece of gear you want to edit. Once you find it, it's as simple as opening the .xml it in a text editor (notepad++ or something of that sort), editing the stats, saving the .xml, and then packing the mod.
The Griffin files can be found at: Root > Mod > Bundle > gameplay > items
The Griffin files for NG+ are located at: Root > Mod > Bundle > gameplay > items_plus
Note: You should edit both the items and items_plus, else your NG+ won't have the edited stats.
The 5th tier (Grandmaster tier) files are located at: Root > Mod > Bundle > dlc > bob > data > gameplay > items Root > Mod > Bundle > dlc > bob > data > gameplay > items_plus
and the files are labeled the same in all of the locations: def_item_crafting_armor.xml def_item_crafting_boots.xml def_item_crafting_gloves.xml def_item_crafting_pants.xml def_item_crafting_weapons.xml
Keep in mind that the top half of the .xml contains the item abilities whereas the bottom half contains the item definitions. Depending on what you want to edit, you may need to make edits in both sections. For example, stats like Slashing Resistance will be in the Abilities section, but the Light or Medium setting is located under the Definitions.
To edit the files, you'll need to right-click on a folder in WolvenKit and select "Open file in explorer" (or navigate the long way if you know where the folders are stored). Make the edit, save it, then pack the mod using Wolvenkit, and test it out in game.
Good luck, and looking forward to seeing what you can create!
Can you add a small buff to the stats to the set for NG+ so it doesn't have the same stats as the level 39 set? Maybe like 22% attack power to like 30% for the armor as an example.
Hi, and thanks for your post. I'm trying to remember what the Cat gear does, which is what these stats are based on. Doesn't Cat remain at 22% in NG+? The base stats increase in NG+, but I think the bonuses stay the same. Overall the stats increase based on Geralt's level and his stats.
Update: As I'm thinking about this, it's worth mentioning that I use a mod that levels up Witcher Gear to your current level. For instance, I am level 73 and my Viper Gear is also level 73. It has much higher stats than the base level 39 gear, which negates the need to greatly enhance the NG+ version because the gear always remains strong. I'll notate that on the description page.
I use your upgraded Viper set with 3 of the Feline set. The grandmaster Feline armor goes from 22% in NG to 34% in NG+. I also like the different levels of witcher gear (don't want them to scale with my level) and I use a mod to make them all have the appearance of the Viper set. Your mod is great, I just would like to request a small buff to the NG+ set don't want major enhancement.
Thank you for the update. I will look into matching the stats for Feline in NG+. It's a very easy edit, I just need to get my head back into it since I haven't looked at these files in a while.
Ok, I edited the NG+ stats to match the Mastercrafted Feline attack bonuses:
Armor: 34% (up from 22%)
Pants: 17% (up from 11%)
Boots: 17% (up from 11%)
Gloves: 17% (up from 11%)
This will now give them 85% attack bonus compared to 55% in the base game, which is the same as the Feline mastercrafted gear. Packing and will upload shortly. I do not have a NG+ save game, so please let me know if there are any issues.
This is definitely a good idea but there's another option in which the game on its own allows you to do just that. Simply go to the runewright and choose the Levity armor enchantment. That's it.
I've been using this combo since the game was suggested to me by one of my friends, that was late 2016 IIRC. He said the Witcher 3 is just as good as Skyrim and even more so at times. Well he's not wrong, I can tell you that.
Levity + Cat School Techniques, killer combo indeed. So powerful. Maximum damage dealt. The way it's meant to be played you could say considering that Levity is a level 3 enchantment. You don't need that if you're already wearing a light armor, obviously, but I'm not so that's that.
Fair point - thank you for that. For base the version of this mod that simply changed the gear from Medium to Light, you're right. For the enhanced version of this mod, keep in mind that I edited stats on the gear as well. This set also has +55% damage from the Cat gear, +50 protection from bludgeoning, increased critical hit rate, increased poison hit rate, and some other enhancements unique to the mod.
Griffin School Technique skill is the best all-rounder
Okay, no denying that sign build is powerful also but you could just get that Griffin School bonus through potions and decoctions AND take advantage of that 100% critical damage Cat School gives you at the same time. Best of both worlds if you ask me.
This is fantastic! I, like yourself, much prefer the quick combat and benefits of using light armor, especially when using mods like Combat Speed or ESGO which can adjust movement, attack, and animation speeds depending on the armor type. Thank you for making this change.
Thank you! Uploading a new version now that you will love. ;-) Combines the benefits of Viper with the benefits of Cat. Really eager to see how this is received.

I have absolutly no clue why it doesnt change.
Maybe because i use :
Viper and Manticore Gear Expanded Mod ?
https://imgur.com/a/kyyOVbz
it simply doesnt work. And there is nothing to merge or give more priority.
Do you mean "verified it in my game" Steam game files verfied ?
no error, nothing to merge.
Tried all 3 files. the same.
i mod for years now.
I have no clue why it doesnt work.

Appreciate the effort nonetheless. Thank you.
Yeah, no problem.
Gotcha. Thanks again.
