Main Information
Showing violence in media is something that is often necessary, whether to put across a message or simply because it realistically conveys the setting. However, some people like to play games without extreme violence and gore, without cutting off their enemies arms or heads in slow motion, or slicing through the last drowner's torso. This mod is for those people.

This mod disables
  • the mid-combat dismemberment of enemies Geralt kills
  • finishers (the slow-motion final kill animations)

This mod does not disable
  • puddles of blood following NPC death
  • body parts in the aftermath of an explosion
  • blood in water
  • blood effects during combat (such as hit with a weapon, or stains on the ground)
  • gore in cutscenes, or in the environment

Some instant kills, such as those on targets stunned by Axii or knocked down by Aard, are considered finishers by the game. As such, the two versions of this mod that disable finishers also disable those. Attacks on these targets will simply register as a normal hit. Personally I've found this isn't really a noticeable detriment in combat, as stunning enemies these ways is still an advantage to put them out of the fight for a while and get some easy hits on them, but I just wanted to put this here to make sure there are no surprises in that regard.

There are also two cut-down versions of this mod available:
  • "No Dismemberment" disables mid-combat dismemberment but leaves finishers unaffected. Please note that with this version, there is still dismemberment present in finisher animations, as the name does not distinguish this dismemberment from the finishers.
  • "No Finishers" disables only finishers, leaving mid-combat dismemberment unaffected.

If you are looking for a mod that disables more of the blood and gore in this game, then Jsow's reduce gore mod is what you are looking for. This mod was created solely for dismemberment and finishers, as I consider them gratuitous, where the other gore/violence in the game is immersive and helps to convey the world of The Witcher. If you install Reduce Gore, do not install this mod! They edit many of the same scripts, and Reduce Gore does everything this mod does. You will only be adding unnecessary script conflicts. Only install this mod if you want to disable only dismemberment and/or finishers. If you want to disable more, install Reduce Gore instead.

Installation
  • Once you have downloaded the file, unzip the archive.
  • Next, navigate to wherever your game files are and looker for a folder called "mods". If it does not exist, you can create it.
  • Move the unzipped folder into "mods".
  • Run the game and enjoy a world without dismemberment or finishers.

Compatibility & Conflicts
This mod was written, and has only been tested, for the 1.32 patch. It might not work with older versions. If there are any script conflicts with other mods, please use the Script Merger. See below for a full list of compatibility. If anyone wishes to test the compatibility of other mods and tell me the results, I am happy to add them to the list.

Known Bugs
I am not currently aware of any bugs. If you find any, such as things disabled that shouldn't be or vice versa, please inform me and I will do
my best to fix them.
