Perfect! Simple is sometimes better--as in this case. Flexible! Just the sort mod for which I was searching to address annoying NPCs when needed, but not make the game environment go dead permanently. Works great! (Classic build, of course, not Next Gen.) Endorsed and kudos given.
I have no idea whether this works on Next Gen, as I don’t play Next Gen. Next Gen is broken, graphically inferior to modded Classic, and numerous mods I won’t play without have not been updated. 😉
This is great, I love hotkeys for things like this.
If anyone else shares my pretentious desire to have these functions toggle without the added sound effects, it is very easy to remove them. Edit the modToggleSubsnAudio.ws file. Comment out (that means put // at the start of the line) all the lines that include:
theSound.SoundEvent
For the last two lines, make sure to put the slashes right at the start so that "if" and "then" don't get treated as code either.
ever since I started I've had a love hate relationship with the subs, I'd like to have them when trying to eavesdrop on convos and while talking to trolls or werewolves but it's always too late to add them once you wish you had them.
This is such an underrated mod. TW3 has an annoying habit of playing explore or (especially) tavern music at inappropriate times, namely during certain dialogue scenes. With this mod, whenever this happens, you can just press a button and poof, no more distracting, ill-fitting music. Makes some dialogue scenes MUCH better.
In particular, the feast in the grand hall of Kaer Trolde is improved significantly by the lack of the incessant tavern music, and instead you're able to appreciate the commotion of the revelry in the background. And as amazing as TW3's explore music is when you're out wandering, sometimes it's nice to just turn it off and listen to the game's stunning soundscape.
I recommend anyone to download this mod for the music toggle alone. You'll come to really appreciate it!
Finally! I'm able to toggle subtitles on for mumbling characters and get to turn it off for the rest. No more annoying subtitles half-way up my screen getting in the way of all the cutscenes and npc interaction! I could kiss you!
That's exactly what I made this mod for :-) Sorry for the late reply, somehow I must have overlooked this comment. Thank you nevertheless for giving feedback, always welcome!
That's the beauty of a hotkey. You can switch it off and on again in the blink of an eye! One moment you have blessed silence, the next you can hear all the sounds and quips you love so much :-) Be it pam pa ram or the farting guard.
Doesn't work with Russian sound and subtitles, despite the fact I did everything the guide recommended. I have the in-game settings for the keys, but they don't work.
I just tried it with Russian subtitles and it works on my system. I have the German ver. 1.31 Gog installed. Does it not work at all or does it work with other languages, just not with Russian? Did you use W3 Mod Manager? You can check if all pieces are in the right places if you go through manual installation. Especially line 4 is important. If you use several mods that make changes to player.ws placing the code in the right spot might be a bit tricky. Usually it should look like this:
player.ws: ... ... statemachine import... { var myNewToggle : ToggleSubsnAudio; //modToggleSubsnAudio ... ... event OnSpawned(... { ... ... ResumeStaminaRegen( 'Sprint' ); myNewToggle = new ToggleSubsnAudio in this; //modToggleSubsnAudio ---start myNewToggle.Init(); //modToggleSubsnAudio ---end } ... ... Sorry for all the fuss, but installing mods can be tricky sometimes and I need some information from you to figure out what went wrong! Please tell me if it worked or if you have questions.
It's probably easier for me just to abandon the idea of using it, since it's really way to complicated... Yes, I used Mod Manager, added strings to the controls file and changed 1 more file (don't what it is and what it does, just copied above the mentioned string). Didn't test with other languages, I assume it won't work.
Thank you for your reply. For me, installing mods and even more writing them, is an adventure and a challenge with its own rewards. But I can understand if you are not into it. If you give it a go, who knows what you might learn? You might even become a programmer in your own right :-). Anyway, since it works on my system and on everyone else's the problem is probably on your side. Let me know if I can help you with anything else.
