My understanding is that HW is referring to the NVIDIA Hairworks setting in the base game, it's not related to hair replacer mods/vanilla hair. If you have that setting enabled, you don't need this mod. If it's disabled, then this mod is relevant. I think that's what they mean by non-HW, hope this helps!
