Download the file, go to your Users\Name\Documents\The Witcher 3 folder, open the input.settings file and add the text from my file on your file. Simple as that.
There is an optional file to add a key to pick up herbs while on horseback. Install it just like the main file.
The hotkey for picking herbs is A (Xbox) / X (Playstation). It does not conflict with the normal hotkeys because in order to run with the horse you have to hold the button and in order to sprint you have to press the button twice quickly. So if you are on horseback and release the button for a brief moment and press it again to pick up the herbs the game will neither register that button press as a command to stop running or start sprinting.
I'm v dumb and can't figure out wha to do :( I added the text but it's not working - any pointers? I found the [HORSE] portion of the code and just added it to the bottom of that, but idk if that was the right thing to do or not. I'm playing on Steam... idk if that affects it either,
I have the same problem. When approaching the plants the pop-up that normally tells you to press the button does not show up, I have tried clicking from several angles but It just does not work.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to make it work?
And suppose one wanted to create a modifier key not just for the range of light and heavy attacks, but also to quick cast signs, rather than having to select them; would this be possible?
I'm aware that there are quick casting mods for gamepad users, but they severely f*** up the inputs for mods like M3EE.
I guess what I want to know is if I wanted to have the left trigger as the first modifier, and the left shoulder as the second modifier, what do I need to change in the input file?
About quick casting: That I don't know because I am not sure if you can program button combinations on the input.settings file. The only reason this combination works is because Reaperrz coded the function of distance modifiers on his W3EE script. My mod simply adds a new way to call that code he created.
But if you want to program the distance modifiers to different keys all you have to do is change the current keys to IK_Pad_RightTrigger and IK_Pad_LeftTrigger on the file. But that would mess with other W3EE hotkeys, the kick attack for example. Currently the kick is Block+Attack or Left Trigger+X.
If you want to have the ability to set modifiers then you need to use a program like Antimicro. I've posted my controller setup and mod list on GitHub.
You can use that mod for quick signs cast: https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/2116. I played with it and it becomes must have mod for me. I think it can be very simple to use both mods. But it's not certain. ;-)
I personally have been using this mod ever since I started installing mods for the game: https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/50/
I use a DS4 controller and now with this mod I've just changed DistanceMed to the right shoulder button (R1) and the long distance modifier to the left shoulder button (L1). It feels natural like this and you can hold them without Geralt doing anything else.
@Tmentink not sure how to install this antimicro profile you have linked. I downloaded antimicro, but there is no download link for your profile. Do you copy it into a text document? I'm very confused.
@Dan Barrows - how do you install that without screwing up all the other settings?

Dismounting to pick up herbs is such a pain. This has solved my one qualm about this entire game.

Also, one could just go in and change the hotkey to shoulder buttons if they wanted to, no?
Might give this a try and see. Truth is, I forgot about long range etc. hehe

Just thought I'd share.
