The mod has been updated and confirmed to work fine with W3 Next-Gen Edition and the latest update 4.0.4.
It was also tested successfully with the latest versions of Scoutbro's Multiple Boats mod and Hyadum27's Boat Lamp mod, as well as the Brother in Arms Bugfix Collection for Next-Gen mod.
Sometime ago, to resolve boat-related issues between my mod and the Besserwiser - Community Patch (while also fixing a few other things), I had uploaded an edited version which can be found here: https://www.mediafire.com/file/r9d52395fht9jeu/modZzBesserwisser2-edited.rar/file.
It is exactly the same as this file" modZzBesserwisser2", but with 3 differences:
Deleted all geralt boat edits, except the one that fixes the boat-sword clipping
Deleted all witcher armor edits (if you want them either use one of the armor optional files or use dedicated witcher armor mods)
Deleted a file that broke the behavior of some ghost enemies in HoS (thanks to SorceressJ for pointing it out)
To install it, just replace that specific mod folder with the file I uploaded. Cheers
I just saw the update for this mod and I must say it is brilliant! I had been looking forward to such an update since I first found this mod and it has been more than worth the wait. That redcloth sail is very natural looking, moving smoothly as the boat sails into the open seas! Another high quality mod from you, making the game experience better, and its combination with E3 Boat with Multiple Boats - Vanilla or E3 Boat or New Geralt Boat adds further to the immersion. It is a pleasure playing with this mod installed! Great work as always!
Hi, Feregorn I must say English is not my language first, forgive me... It seems that my scabbards clip through the boat...I remember the bug is fixed in NG(Nitpicker)? Maybe is my fault, I'm not sure : ( Excellent mod, thank you a thousand times!
DONE! I merger scripts, give BIA lower priority than 'BetterTrophies2_0', 'FixedScabbards_NG' and of course 'MergedFiles' (in bundled text). Although I still don't whether my way is right or not, but it just works. Thank you Lewis! Enjoy your day!
On next-gen, the sails are not positioned correctly on the far LOD, and then pop into the right place once you get fairly close. The E3 boat mod has a similar issue where the sails don't show up at all until you get close. Vanilla boats look correct from super far away. (Tested on the bridge to Oxenfurt.)
Next-gen version revamped lots of LODs in the game, so it's not surprising that some things like this might be a little weird.
Hey and thanks for the detailed description, it's really helpful. I have already started checking and updating some of my smaller mods, I will be soon looking into fixing any issues my boat mod has from the next-gen patch as well.
Can you also release a compatibility patch for the next-gen version of the Brothers in Arms mod once you get to update this? Since it includes Besserwisser. Thanks!
The mod has been updated and tested with the latest 4.0.4 version of the W3 Next-Gen Edition. It was also playtested with Brother in Arms Next-Gen as well and everything works fine, so there is no need for a compatibility patch. Enjoy!
This is a very nice mod. Scoutbr0 made an optional version for his E3 boat mod... so now all boats (vanilla, Scoutbr0's and yours) appears on the game... It could be amazing to have your boat with physics enabled sail xD
Hey, thanks for the kind words! Wow, didn't know that scoutbro already made that.....!
Oh yeah, now I too gotta give this oldie VGX boat mod a proper physics-enabled sail! Will also need to update the compatibilities of this, etc I suppose.
Ok, (update) challenge accepted! Keep an eye out y'all!
Thank you very much for the update... it looks awesome.
Unfortunately I have the same problem that BoikoBorisov has, can't make it work with "E3 Boat with Multiple Boats - Vanilla or E3 Boat or New Geralt Boat"... vanilla and your boat are spawned with invisible sails :(
Maybe Scoutbr0 has to update his file...
In any case... thank you very much for your work mate!
Yeah, it sounds like a compatibility with the multiple boats patch made by menschfeind13 and scoutbro. Don't worry, a solution should be easy to find, just let scoutbro know about this issue and I'm sure he will update it.
Random thought: Perhaps it might also be worthwhile to explore the possibility of making boat mods as DLC or something, given they all change the same assets right now and compatibility issues may rise again in the future...
Unfortunately there is some issue with his multiple boats patch and your v3 update, he wrote this on his comments:
"Unfortunately the way he updated his mod makes it impossible to have any kind compatibility since he overwrote the default/vanilla sail".
... so I think you have a great idea about DLC boat... if you could manage to make your mod a DLC maybe it will be a way to make all boats work together.
Hey, yeah I have spoken with both menschfeind13 and scoutbro about this. My boat mod is more unique in its mast and sail design, deviating from the basic vanilla design further than both the other boats, so the new patch will come from me. The DLC suggestion I made earlier or some kind of instantiation should be the solution to this and one other smaller compatibility issue. Stay tuned because it will come soon!
I cannot stress how cool I think your mods and you collaboration is! Thank you!!! I do have one issue however, that I would be most grateful for assistance in solving.
I am still experiencing the "invisible sails"-issue even though I've downloaded the patched files from you guys (Multiple Boats and NGB). It works on my vanilla modlist (I'm using Aelthoths excellent tool Modlist Manager - highly recommended) but as soon as I start adding mods, the issue crops up. I'm runng well over 200 mods (I should be embarrased, I know) so it would be very time consuming to pinpoint the conflicting mod through exclusion - can you tell me which file(s) is/are the most likely culprit(s), as that would help me narrow down the list of suspects. I've given your mods top priority btw (right after Community Patch Base) and that still havn't solved the issue.
Best Nick
EDIT: Hmm, maybe not so hard after all. It seems the issue is the Besserwisser mod. Are there any known compatibility issues with that mod that you guys are aware of?
Hello Nick and thanks for the kind words, much appreciated!
First of all, are you sure you are not running any of the mods already discovered by other users in this comment section as causing such issues?
If you are sure, then next thing I would suggest to try is to open script merger (not the purpose it was made for I know) and use it to quickly identify those files that conflict with each other and include any combination of the following words:
redcloth
mast
boat
sail
Let us know what you discover (fyi they will show up as unmergeable conflicts)!
Hi Feregorn - it seems I missed your reply :-) (and proceeded to edit my previous post)
I've done a bit of testing and it appears that the Besserwisser mod is causing the issue. Apologies, but I do not have an overview of the conflicting mods discussed in this thread/forum. I will check. If it is indeed Besserwisser - do you have any suggestions on how to solve the issue?
These are my findings:
Bundled Non-text - Not Mergeable -modE3Boat_Multiple_NBG (Top priority) -modZzBesserwisser2
1) Booting vanilla game (vanilla + Community Patch Base & Community Patch - Menu Strings): All three boat types are present and sails are fine. 2) Adding Besserwizzer mod and booting again: Sails are now invisible. 3) Removing Besserwizzer mod and booting again: All three boat types are present and sails are fine again.
OK then, so we found the root cause. It's Besserwiser that's causing the issue, either a single one of those 6 files or a combination of them. The simplest/fastest way to resolve these particular conflicts is to use mod merger and merge the 3 mods, while making the 2 boat mods overwrite the conflicting files of Besserwiser in the merge order.
Alternatively, the "cleaner" solution is to straight up unpack/open Besserwiser, delete everything inside the environment\decorations\ships\basic\geralt_boat folder and pack it back up again. You need wolvenkit to do this and it's not hard at all.
Or, lastly, ask the creator/s of Besserwiser to make an optional version without those geralt_boat flies/changes, as they are not needed with our boat mods (meaning scoutbro and my boat mods have the same fixes).
Hi Feregorn, I have already tried the first solution you suggest and that doesn't work. I would try my hand with the second solution but I have absolutely zero experience using WolvenKit. I managed to uncook the mod using console commands and have deleted the files in question, but I have no clue how to cook and pack the mod again. Can you help me in this regard?
Are you using any other mods that affect boat, lods, architecture, etc mods, other than mine and scoutbro's? Have you tested my mod completely on its own or with only scoutbro's multiple boats and hyadum's boat lamp mods?
If the answer is NO to either one of the questions, then you should check a conversation I had had with another user right below, which although it took a while, we found that the problem was another mod that had something to do with lod. I would suggest reading my responses and following the actions I wrote there to identify the root cause of the problem.
Tried removing the LOD stuff I got...and no fix. Actually your mod is set to overwrite all LOD mods and even HDPR. Only the modE3Boat_Multiple_NGB is set above your mod? The lamp E3 is below. There are no mesh conflicts in the merger with other mods.
It's not a prerequisite to have conflicts in the script merger and for mods to fail. My mod works absolutely fine. Check my screenshot below:
This is the mod working as it should, from a MUCH longer distance than you showed, so much that you can't see the boats the sail are on! So, I will repeat again what I wrote to the other user and I insist you follow them too as the ultimate test:
I suggest you temporarily remove all your mods and install first my boat mod (If it works as it should on its own then it's not a problem of my mod).
After that install only the multiple boats by scoutbro and the boat lamp mod. If again, all of them work together fine then it's not a problem of those mods and it's another mod that does it.
So, to identify which other mod causes this problem start by installing all your other mods one by one. If you are sure that some of those mods, for example, affect only NPC/characters and/or armors you can install multiple such mods together to save on time.
If you find the mod/s that causes this issue then you will to consider either removing them or renaming them (or change priority) so that they load last and certainly after mine, scoutbro's and the lamp boat mods.
It seems to be just that one boat spawning next to Brunwich in the lake. Other boats of the same time are fine in other locations. And also, once the LOD is loaded, the issue with that boat disappears even if Geralt walks away and then returns. The distance LOD loads fine....
Very weird and singular thing to happen like that....but at least it's not from this mod.
Since it's related to LOD as you say, it might be useful to show your pic to scoutbro, he's doing something related to LODs and this may be of interest to him and tell him what we've tried here so far.
That looks like the right versions. Have you done anything to those files perhaps? Like rename them, change their folder order or set mod priority or installed them with vortex?
Some mods edited myself, but there no boats. Have crossing meshes with https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/4378 and https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/3163
If you have conflicts in meshes then that could explain why my mast is not showing. So the two last things to try are these:
Remove these 2 conflicting mods you specifically mention and see if that will fix this problem.
If the first does not fix the problem, then I suggest you temporarily remove all your mods and install first my boat mod (If it works as it should on its own then it's not a problem of my mod).
After that install only the multiple boats by scoutbro and the boat lamp mod. If again, all of hem work together fine then it's not a problem of those mods and it's another mod that does it.
Not surprised to hear that it was some other mod causing this problem, between me and scoutbro our boat mods have been through quite extensive testing! Thanks for letting me know what was the problem!
Stumbled first now about this gem, very nice model and textures, thumbsup! Dl'ed now to using it as reminder for coming back when updated with wind physics.
Thx mate, yeah that version will come eventually for sure! It may be a bit old mod now, but the more I see people appreciate this, the stronger the motivation ;)
Your boat mod counts as essential in my book of lore realism, sotospeak. The wind physics are a must-have though.
I'm soon in the Skelliges in my current playthrough. Hope you find the according time soon ... would be like an early x-mas present ;) But of course, no pressure at all (take all time it needs).

The files that are the main culprits in our case are the following 6:
environment\decorations\ships\basic\geralt_boat\meshes\skellige_boat_lines_big_square_px.redcloth
environment\decorations\ships\basic\geralt_boat\meshes\skellige_boat_lines_small_px.redcloth

environment\decorations\ships\basic\geralt_boat\meshes\skellige_boat_mast_square.w2mesh.1.buffer
To truly confirm though, I suggest you remove besserwiser and launch the game without it to see what happens to the boats.
Alternatively, the "cleaner" solution is to straight up unpack/open Besserwiser, delete everything inside the environment\decorations\ships\basic\geralt_boat folder and pack it back up again. You need wolvenkit to do this and it's not hard at all.

I got the same issue and it's now working perfectly. :)
Maybe the link to your edited file should be added somewhere more accessible ?

I noticed there may be an issue with LOD appearance for the v3.
When I go closer it gets fixed.
Take a look:
If the answer is NO to either one of the questions, then you should check a conversation I had had with another user right below, which although it took a while, we found that the problem was another mod that had something to do with lod. I would suggest reading my responses and following the actions I wrote there to identify the root cause of the problem.

Now i'm waiting on a solution that works with Scoutbro's E3 plus vanilla boat mod ;)
The DLC way with your mod should be viable, when Menschfeind's script code considers your boat mod (multiple/random appearance).
Enjoy your sailing mate!
