About this mod

This mod re-balances stamina/health regen, potions, food, recipes and skills for a different approach at difficulty. I use Ghost Mode mod(which is awesome) as a base for the balance changes so you NEED to install Ghost Mode first.
This mod attemps to bring The Witcher 3 experience to be a bit more like the books and at the same time reward sk

AWOTR
is but a few tweaks to a bigger framework of gameplay mods, but one that impacts the gameplay considerably.

This mod uses the awesome Ghost Mode mod adjusted files and it's difficulty options as a base so you NEED to install it FIRST(and endorse it :D):

Ghost Mode by wghost81

Why Ghost Mode?

Well, it's a great overhaul that tweaks loot and recipes to make more "sense"(no more rare materials in peasant homes, etc.) AND it gives you many options to tweak enemy HP/Damage/Level Scaling etc as well as improving enemy AI. AWOTR modifies a few Ghost Mode files to inject it's own balance changes to make the game harder in it's own unique way.

ALMOST FORGOT!!
Download and install the 10 minute version of Slower Gametime by giantsuperorganism potions and food seem to heal too much without reducing timescale which is not the intention.

HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY!!! RECOMMENDED:
Combat Speed Mod - by acbatchelor
Needed to make Geralt's attacks/rolling a bit faster(sometimes his fast attacks are slower than a lowly bandit's)
Preparations Mod by wghost81
I balanced potions/food with this mod in installed/in mind too so it's basically a MUST INSTALL. A Wolf on the Road is balanced around the Full Recipe feature of Preparations, where you need all the ingredients to make a potion.

RECOMMENDED

Immersive cam by KCS

Awesome mod that allows you to customize camera angles/zoom. Can really help with combat.

- Mods that remove soft-lock and make you AIM your attacks like Disable Soft Lock. Those can take some time getting used to, but your control over Geralt's actions will improve 10000% after you train a bit and get the hang of it.

WHAT DOES IT DO?

A wolf on the road main features:

The main goal of the mod is to give Geralt more power, but at the same time limit his healing and potions resources, making them more special/useful but harder to acquire, so getting hit often, even small hits, will really leave you in a bad spot.

- Health/Stamina regens a lot slower

- Geralt from the books doesn't use signs all the time, so now Stamina regens MUCH slower, but you start with +20% sign intensity and rolling/running cost almost nothing. If you want to do a signs build, you must use Tawny Owl(which is much more useful now, see below for potion changes).

- Potions/Food lasts much longer, starting at around 20 minutes(increases with points in alchemy) but heal very slowly(higher quality food lasts longer)

- Every recipe produces 1 potion, but they are stronger. Most recipes were redone.

- Some skills were changed but more important is that their requirements are much lower(First and Second tiers are already available, 5 points needed for the third tier and 15 for the last tier(20 for signs))

- Recovering from Toxicity takes a long time, White Honey now has a purpose for existing.

- Greatly reduced SaddleBags capacity(Geralt is a Witcher and they must travel light). This is still under balancing(Buy DLC SaddleBags if you really want to carry tons of stuff)

IS IT WORTH IT?
It's a different approach to difficulty. It makes it less about each singular battle but more about a series of battles.
If you want something hard, but different than making every enemy take 70% of your HP in one swipe, then this mod it's very much worth a try.

INSTALLATION:
---------------
- Download and Install Ghost Mode mod and Preparations mod(highly recommend you install Combat Speed mod too)
- Download and Extract my mod and drop it in the mods folder in your TW3 main folder.

Now you need to tweak Ghost Mode, Preparations and Combat Speed in-game options to make them balanced for AWOTR:

FIRST OF ALL, change your difficulty to Story and Sword! This will allow us to customize the difficulty using Ghost Mode settings.

Ghost Mode Settings(NOT balanced for expansions YET):

- Enemy Scaling: Match (Recommended, but if you really dislike it, change it and tweak the other settings below)
- Random Scalings: Both at 0
- Do not Upscale Animals: OFF
- NO Additional Level For Guards: ON
- Enemy Health Scaling: 0.40
- Enemy Damage Scaling: 2.31 (Try getting used to it. If you find it too hard, lower it a bit. The beginning might seem too easy at first, but things will get harder...)
Rest is optional

Preparations Settings:

- Alchemy ---> Choose Full Recipe for all 4 Options.
Rest is optional.

Combat Speed Mod Settings:

- GENERAL: Every option turned ON

WITCHER SPEED MODIFIERS:
- Fast Attack(% per level in Muscle Memory): 1
- Strong Attack(% per level in Strenght Training): 3
- Dodge Speed(% per level in Fleet Footed): 2
- Roll Speed(% per level in Fleet Footed): 2
- Whirl Speed(% per level in Whirl): 2
- Roll % Increase(No Skill Required): 15
- Leave the rest at: 0

ARMOR SPEED MODIFIERS:
- Light Armor Fast Attack: 4
- Light Armor Strong Attack: 4
- Light Armor Dodge: 2
- Light Armor Roll: 2
- Light Armor Whirl: 2
- Medium Armor Fast Attack: 2
- Medium Armor Strong Attack: 2
- Leave the rest at: 0

ADRENALINE SPEED MODIFIERS:
- Every option at: 2

---------------------

IT'S TOO HARD!
Well, it's not that hard. Not getting hit is the most important thing, so training your dodge reflexes is a must. Use everything at your disposal: enemies die faster = less hits taken. Learning enemy patterns and exploiting them consistently is the golden rule.

IT'S TOO EASY!
Well, congratulations! You are a very good player :)
I want people to be able to finish the game without dying a single time(death by bug doen't count :d) so the recommended difficulty settings can't be too extreme. You also have to be VERY GOOD in order to make it deathless.

Also, this is the second mod that I ever uploaded, so please don't murder my family if something doesn't work or is not balanced. I made this mod months ago but I'm only releasing it now. I haven't tested everything but it seems balanced up to this point. Any feedback is appreciated.

SOME TIPS FOR A GOOD START
- If you are taking too many hits at the beginning go to Tomira and buy what you need to make Swallow.
- With Preparations mod some time passes when you craft with alchemy, if any food is in effect, it will heal you relative to the time spent.
- Drink a Tawny Owl before fighting the Noonwraith at White Orchard, REMEMBER: stamina regens SLOWLY if you don't have a lot of points spent into sign skills;
- Always enhance your equipment at the blacksmiths/armorers
- Get all Places of Power in White Orchard;
- Craft/Get Lvl 2 Weapons asap;
- Put all your crafting materials in the stash to free up a lot of weight, you don't need to have them with you in order to craft at blacksmith/armorer.
- If you are using the recommended "MATCH" level scaling, try to upgrade your equipment as soon as possible(specially your swords). Equipment 1 Level below enemy = Suboptimal, 2 Levels below enemy = BAD, 3 Levels below enemy = TERRIBLE
This will change as you progress and get some good Relic equipment, some of them remain useful for a few levels.

SPECIAL THANKS
To wghost81 for creating Ghost Mode and Preparations and allowing me to modify his work in order to make this mod.
