Horse Races are fixed in version 1.01. Thanks for the feedback, guys.
Latest version now further tweaked and fixed. Also includes an option with default speed values.
EDIT: Due to some unexpected results through testing I've temporarily removed the downloads. The file available for download is the exact one I've been using lately, which actually does a little less than the mod description promises. I'll post an update sometime tomorrow.
Sorry for the cock-up, I'll do my best to make it up to you.
PS. I am at GMT+1 so "tomorrow" might be a relative term.
The issues I've stumbled across, however, seem to indicate that I can't increase input response on anyone but Geralt's unmounted movement. It seems that if I touch the Horse dampening, Roach becomes unresponsive when whistling for him. He appears and stand rigid instead of running towards you. A minor bug, perhaps, but it's a bug all the same.
If you want better horse response even if it introduces the above mentioned bug, you can just edit those numbers yourself with a text editor. Just make sure that you use the same amount of digits as the original file. That means, in order to make a "1" into "0.1" you have to remove two digits from somewhere else. The easiest way is to remove letters in the formula explanation between these markers; <!-- player_walkSpeedRel = 2 * 1.125 = 2.25-->
What this tweak actually does it to make sure that the player you control, Geralt, Ciri or Roach, responds to your input quicker. If you release "forward button" they stop very quickly, as opposed to original game where they seem to use forever to respond. It also quickens new input response such as changing direction and movement speed changes.
You're probably not going to see this but what files did you edit to achieve these changes? The rar file provided as a download is corrupted and doesn't work.
very nice mod thx. oh uhm i had a question you or maybe somebody else can answhere... sins the speed of the horse etc can be changed i was wondering if its (maybe?) possible to edit the menu where the player can do things like crafting / selling and buying items etc. i was thinking of the RESPONSE TIME OF THE MENU BROWSING. Because it is hitching if this is the right english for the thing i mean. In other words its LAGGING. Or is it my own problem since i have allot of items in my inventory....
well i dont thing im the only person here who is a little irritated by the response time of the item menu. thanks!!!!
I WONDER WHY IT TOOK SO LONG FOR SOMEONE TO DO THIS.....
thank you Sabatasso
I mean considering the fact that movement with Geralt and Roach is one of the biggest issues Witcher 3 players have had with the game, this mod is probably the most important mod we may have for this game if it works correctly.
Now if someone can only fix the other big problem the game has, SWORDPLAY COMBAT SUCKS
Out of curiosity, do you know how to INCREASE the sprinting speed? Or better yet, increase the speed of the slow crawl that Geralt enters while in combat? It seems like the only reasonable way to move around is dodging everywhere, and I think the combat would be a lot more fun with better maneuverability (without mashing a button). I tried messing around with the files in speed_config.xml, then reinstalling using the .bat file, but it didn't seem to make any differences.
You can use sprint in combat to move around faster but changing the speed values seem to have very subtle effects at best, which I why I went back to the original mod which focuses on response.
I can't get consistent results when tweaking the speed settings, quite simply.
