1) Extract folder to \The Witcher 3\mods directory. Copy \The Witcher 3\mods\modDurationAndChargeMultiplier\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc\modDurationAndChargeMultiplier.xml to \The Witcher 3\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc folder.
2) Open dx11filelist.txt and dx12filelist.txt from \The Witcher 3\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc and add this line to each:
modDurationAndChargeMultiplier.xml; 3) Open \Documents\The Witcher 3\user.settings and copy the lines from this text file at either the top or bottom (sorry but Nexus funky formatting edits out part of the variable name for some reason):
4) Use WitcherScriptMerger to re-merge playerWitcher.ws and r4Player.ws. It is best to delete any existing merges you have for these files first. Resolve any conflict and save.
This modified version migrates all the changes to these two base files from the latest 4.0 patch, so the only difference will be the 1 line added to each by this mod, making conflicts for this mod very easy to resolve (it will resolve automatically).
Enjoy the awesome Next Generation update, fellow gamers!
POSSIBLE ISSUES:
If you do not copy the lines from the linked text file to your \Documents\The Witcher 3\user.settings file the mod will cause consuming potions to have zero duration until you go into the mod settings menu and set it to a value of 1 or greater. This will only need to be done once.
If you don't have a menu for the mod configuration then you didn't follow the first two steps correctly.
NOTE: If you are using another mod that edits potion duration and want to keep those values, assuming there are no conflicts that need resolved with Script Merge, go into the options for this mod and set the potion duration multiplier to 1. This should use whatever value your other mods have set as it will only be multiply the result by 1 which does not change the value.
Sadly this didn't work for me in 4.03. I used the script merger but still got these compilation errors, which went away once I removed this mod: Error [content0]game\gameplay\effects\effects\other\oil.ws(177): Could not find function 'ShouldAutoApplyOil' Error [content0]game\gui\main_menu\ingamemenu.ws(1491): Could not find function 'SetAutoApplyOils' Error [content0]game\gui\main_menu\ingamemenu.ws(1493): Could not find function 'SetAutoApplyOils'
I am getting 0 charges on all my oils. is this normal? Is this mod working? (Edited: don't know cause I ended up using an updated version)
Edited: No one seems to be here that can help and I found an updated version of this mod.
Of course I had the same trouble and I found out why I am having problems. No menu because I got confused with the installation instruction so this is my way of showing appreciation. Here is what I did hope it helps someone to install this mod easily if they are confused.
NOTES ON INSTALLATION: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Other mods let you download two archives, "the main mod" and the "mod menu." This mod archive contains both:
* The main mod file that can be installed via manager (contents folder) * The mod menu files that must be installed manually (bin folder + presets)
Because of this, you may want to extract the menu files so that these can be installed manually as required. See Mod Menu installation section.
Main mod recommended Installation ?********************************* Use Mod Manager (https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/2678) to install the mod. I use Vortex. When done this will require you to install the mod menu manually so continue with Mod Menu installation.
Main Mod Manual Installation **************************** Unzip the file in the Mods directory. When done this will require you to install the mod menu manually so continue with Mod Menu installation.
Mod Menu installation ********************* Because mod managers won't install menus properly, menus for the mod need to be installed manually. This requires extracting the mod menu files from the archive.
1) For in-game menu to work you need modDurationAndChargeMultiplier.xml (for this mod) from the bin folder to be in your "[Path To The Witcher 3]\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc" folder. You can just move the included bin folder with copy and paste it into [Path To The Witcher 3]. Done!
2) Add the contents of the user.settings.part.txt file into your user.settings file (Note: this file may just be listed as user and not user.settings in your file manager) in your Documents\The Witcher 3 folder. Open the two User.settings.part.txt and user (in my case) in notepad++ and just copy contents from User.settings.part.txt and paste it into user (in my case) and save user file. Done! (This last step is not strictly necessary. But if you do not take this step all multipliers will be 0 initially, so make sure you update them in the menu before running the game.)
Finally ******* Don't forget to use Script Merger to prevent any conflict! :
Thanks for the extra effort to provide better install instructs, however, the unzipped mod folder does not contain a "user.settings.part.txt" file any where in the download folder/file paths, so not sure what text code to add to My Documents\Witcher 3\user.settings file.Any insights appreciated.
EDIT :( save the trouble and just use the updated version...https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/3999
Excellent idea, considering the original durations of the potions and oils was hours long. Unfortunately, I'm having a problem. Following pzaw's guide, I am unable to find any file calleduser.settings.part.txt, so I can't proceed with the second part of the menu installation.
With the first part done, the menu shows up, on a scale of 0 to 10. However, the slider has no effect. Instead, all the potions have their standard durations.

For this mod, either install using Mod Manager, or for manual installation:
Go to The Witcher 3 main folder. Drop modDurationAndChargeMultiplier into Mods (create Mods folder if one doesn't exist).
Drop "bin" into main folder
Run script merger
Any chance of fixing this please?

Anyone got ideas?
