    This mod works perfectly. If it doen't work for you try to import input keys manually.
    In decsription it says:
    Find "IK_E=(Action=Extinguish)" and replace with "IK_E=(Action=Extinguish,State=Duration,IdleTime=0.5)"
    then Find "IK_E=(Action=Ignite)" and replace with "IK_E=(Action=Ignite,State=Duration,IdleTime=0.5)"

    There is a number of IK_E=(Action=Extinguish) and IK_E=(Action=Ignite) keys, you have to CHANGE ALL of them. Just ctrl+f in your note and edit it and then save. Also be sure to make a backup copy before testing anything.

    Thank you for this mod, its just what I needed :)

      FIX: Wasn't working for me either when I manually edited input.settings, because there are 16 different entries for each "ignite" and "extinguish". When I did a replace all using the Replace function in Notepad++, then it started working.

      Seems like there are different states where you can set each differently if desired, like:
      [BaseInteractionsKeyboard]
      [BaseInteractions]
      [Combat]

      But I just did a replace all.

    I have replaced IK_Pad_A_CROSS=(Action=Ignite)" AND "IK_Pad_A_CROSS=(Action=Extinguish)" with "IK_Pad_A_CROSS=(Action=Ignite,State=Duration,IdleTime=0.5)" and "IK_Pad_A_CROSS=(Action=Extinguish,State=Duration,IdleTime=0.5)" respectively in the input settings. I saw the entry twice for each one in both files. A total of 8 edits. Still, nothing changes and it never works.

    Also, I see the same text that is to be edited on two files called "input_azerty.ini" and "input_qwerty.ini" instead of what everyone else is seeing (input.settings)

    Was there a recent patch that stopped this from working? Please help!

    Reposting this comment for people who want to have this effect on their CONTROLLER as well.

    First off go to your Input.Settings file in your Documents > The Witcher 3
    Next find ALL INSTANCES of...

    IK_Pad_A_CROSS=(Action=Ignite)
    and
    IK_Pad_A_CROSS=(Action=Extinguish)

    Now, just replace the whole "IK_Pad_A_CROSS=(Action=Ignite)" line with... IK_Pad_A_CROSS=(Action=Ignite,State=Duration,IdleTime=0.5)
    same thing with the Extinguish line.
    You'll be replacing the "IK_Pad_A_CROSS=(Action=Extinguish)" line with...IK_Pad_A_CROSS=(Action=Extinguish,State=Duration,IdleTime=0.5)

    P.S
    SOME people think you only have to replace like one line by the way but I honestly edit all of the ones that pop-up when using the "Find Line" option in Notepad) There's around 5 - 8 Ignite AND 5 - 8 Extinguish lines in total and each one is for different scenarios like "DIVING" or "EXPLORATION" etc.

    If you followed these instructions correctly you should now have to HOLD the A Button (XBOX Controller) button - (X if you use a PS4 Controller like me) for HALF a second in order to light Candles and what-not. Peace! Hope this helped. It really makes a huge difference over time lol, there used to be so many damn candles or torches I'd light by accident when trying to open a nearby box or get on my nearby Roach!

    I don't know who would want to play TW3 on a keyboard all the time since it's a Single-player game and works perfectly fine with a controller so here's a tip on how to make this work with a controller, it's fairly easy to figure out and I'd bet most people would figure this out themselves I'm sure but I love making things as easy as they can get so... Here's a comment on how to get this to work with a CONTROLLER.

    "If you are having problems getting this to work with a controller, follow Option 3 (Which is easily manually editing the input.settings file) and make sure you search for EVERY instance of IK_Pad_A_CROSS=(Action=Extinguish) and IK_Pad_A_CROSS=(Action=Ignite) in input.settings. In my case, input.settings had more than 5 separate entries for each."

    Just re-posting this comment to the top so everyone can see it easily again. It's around 5 to 10 comments below the top comment at this time.

      Thanks for the tip, however when ever I look for the fields to edit, there aren't any options to edit, for example: "IK_Pad_A_CROSS=(Action=Extinguish)" is listed five times, but not numbers to edit. Any advice?

      Oh there won't be any numbers to edit lol, you just have to add the rest. So I think what you're telling me is that
      you're finding the following lines...

      IK_Pad_A_CROSS=(Action=Ignite)
      and
      IK_Pad_A_CROSS=(Action=Extinguish)

      Right? Well just replace the whole "Ignite" line with...IK_Pad_A_CROSS=(Action=Ignite,State=Duration,IdleTime=0.5)
      same thing with the Extinguish line.
      You'll be replacing it entirely with...IK_Pad_A_CROSS=(Action=Extinguish,State=Duration,IdleTime=0.5)

      P.S
      SOME people think you only have to replace like one line by the way but I honestly edit all of the ones that pop-up when using the "Find Line" option in Notepad) There's around 5 - 8 Ignite AND Extinguish lines in total and each one is for different scenarios like "DIVING" or "EXPLORATION" etc.

    Is there a way to make this work with a controller?

    I tried replacing IK_Pad_A_CROSS=(Action=Ignite) with IK_Pad_A_CROSS=(Action=Ignite,State=Duration,IdleTime=0.5) and the same with extinguish, but it does not work.

      I did this awhile back and it worked, make sure you edit every single instance of IK_Pad_A_CROSS=(Action=Ignite) and the Extinguish one, there's like 5 - 8 of these and if you only do one of the ignite edits and one of the extinguish edits, it won't work.

    The " Doing it manually " option should really specify that there are *many* cases you need to fix, not just 2 as I figured would be logical...

    Anyways, here's a quick regexp search replace I used:

    * Action=(?:Ignite|Extinguish)(?!,)
    * $0,State=Duration,IdleTime=0.5
