I was taught by the very patient ElementaryLewis on how to update the mod myself. I can confirm it is working in 4.04 with the scabbards issue resolved. And don't forget to endorse if you like the mod!

however, the mod somehow affects the top notch swords. identical silver sword scabbard to the top notch swords fix mod which is not intentional i think.
could you please provide the starting swords only optional file.
I have used script merger with the Top Notch sword fix and this mod with no issues. I don't know what you did wrong. But I should warn you, an update seems unlikely. I have tried contacting nayfk about a mod commission I had in mind involving this mod but they haven't read it and it's been a couple of weeks. I did nothing wrong and i found what causes this issue.
The steel sword scabbard works only on the new game plus saves . tried plenty of old and new saves, ng and ng+ saves. for some reason, it does not work with the normal new game saves. which indicates to a missing xml item edit.
as for the top notch ones, let me try explain to make it clear. this mod contains some edits for the top notch swords. this has the same silver sword scabbard texture as the other "top notch swords fix" mod. (so this makes the other mod obsolote) which is not mentioned in the mod description. as well as the crossbow gear type change.
what i need is the only starting swords edit, nothing else.
Ah okay. Well in that case, what I'd recommend is using the ANTR mod. It swaps the appearance of the swords. Top Notch will have these sword models but different scabbards.
Could you make a mod that replace the top notch sword with Sailing to Skellige Cutscene Swords? Just the texture is enough. Thanks for reading. I really appreciate this mod.
I didn't say it doesn't work. I say it needs to update to apply the new 4.01 version changes. You can look to the XML changelog link I send which of them have been changed.
Or else you will have complains that Top Notch Guy doesn't sell his Top Notch Swords.

in weapons.xml steel sword uses wrong scabbard model(actually from ANTR mod instead of OCS)
