I would like to use this mod alongside FCR3. As it was highlighted in 2019 by warrenhofmann, Script Merger can't merge automatically these two mods versions of \content\scripts\game\npc\npc.ws
I'm really sorry but for some reason Regis's shadow still appears even after uninstalling all the other mods. I don't know if I need to do more than just unzip and move the files. It's really a shame that I can't experience such an awesome mod myself 🥲
I think Sapkovsky wrote it without thinking. If a vampire takes a hat from Geralt and puts it on, will the shadow of the hat disappear? This is another book error that should have been corrected. I also don't understand why vampires were made immortal in the game. Why can only another vampire kill a vampire? Geralt killed the vampire who attacked Priscilla, but now it turns out that he didn't. And this vampire can regenerate and start killing again. I hate vampires. =D
Keep in mind that a vampire who is actually killed (as opposed to merely being incapacitated, like Regis was when the villagers caught him) will NOT authomatically come back from the dead on his own with the sole passing of time: the ritual of rebirth, where another vampire provides the tissues (in the form of blood) to rebuild the destroyed ones is a necessity, Regis clearly explains that to Geralt, if questioned about it. So there's no inherent contraddiction between the canon from the books and the one from the game, merely an expansion. Even a mortal can kill a vampire, if he manages to deal enough damage; the exact amount, however, is left unspecified, both in the books and in the game. Destroying the whole body, like Vilgefortz did, is obviously enough, while staking and beheading the vampire is not (although it's still quite devastating and will make the vampire appear dead for decades). So: yes, the vampires killed by Geralt was a higher one, and not merely a katakan; we don't now if Geralt actually killed or merely incapacitated him, but considering that in Novigrad corpses are cremated by default, we can be sure he won't be back without some help form one of his kind.

When speaking of speeding up the process he is referring to the period in which he was recovering after being reborn: at that point he was alive but incapacitated and could have regenerated back to full health on his own, albeit in a significantly longer time; with Dettlaff's help it took him much less. Regarding the rebirth the discussion is absolutely clear, the ritual in needed, as both him and Geralt remark: "if not for Dettlaff I might have drowned i an eternity of icy terror". He also explains that this time he was actually dead and no longer self aware ("I did no reasoning") as opposed to merely being incapacitated, but alive and capable of reasoning, like when the villagers beheaded him. In a few words, a killed vampire is trapped in a sort of limbo, a state of agonizing an potentially eternal nothingness/inexistence, form which only the blood of another higher vampire can save him.This is called REBIRTH, as opposed to mere regeneraton. Once the vampire is reborn, he is alive but incapacitated, so weak he can't even stand, let alone walk, but normal regeneration sets in and he can heal on his own, in several years (with Dettlaff's help, Regis was back to near full health in a couple of years; alone, it could possibly have taken another fifty years...)
