Had same issue, but after reinstalled it, works as intended right now. But values are still messed up a bit. I'm using Strength at 1 (max), then rest values are: 50/50/50/50 and Sky Range 600, and getting a subtle but really nice DoF effect. Here's a quick slider comparison On/Off:
In Toussaint, cutscenes deactivate the dof for me. After restart it works again. I've not experienced this on other maps. I've checked in script merger, there's no incompatibility. Any ideas?
For anyone encounter the missing Menu mod, GET to this file bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc => kngdof.xml Edit this with notepad, or Notepad++, ... and delete all the Tag= in the row <Group id.....
Hello Good Day! Any ideas how to fix this issue? I cannot change the Depth of Field Strength when using this mod (stuck with 0.01, using KNG_NativeDoF_V1.6_SharedImports along with modSharedImports-v0.6)
Here is the screenshot of my Settings and also the modlist I have. - https://snipboard.io/nzq3f1.jpg - https://snipboard.io/79j4ht.jpg
OK I worked IT out BY FOLLOWING THE instructions from other mods why there is no menu to change the DOF SETTINGS.
You need to copy and paste kngdof.xml NAME (not the file, the file goes seperatly into the same folder) into your either dx11filelist or dx12filelist (depending on which version you are playing), make sure it looks like this............. kngdof.xml;
Save the file and it appears in game under "Mods", and it works perfectly I might add.
Trying with DX12 version and although i'm getting the menu, ive set the settings as it's suggested and see no DOF at all. Played around with the settings and still nothing? Very odd..
hi can you guys explain in details how you installed it please because i installed it and followed all the instructions but my game wont start i get compilation errors. i use dx12
mEH THIS IS nothing, you should see the Witcher 3 in REAL SPECIAL K HDR, Oh man, it is mind blowing, looks tons better than RT ray tracing and no performance loss, only works on the dx11 version so cannot use both. Download speCIAL k hDR if you have the monitor or tv that supports it, it is mind blowing !, trust me when I tell you, blow your mind. Why they have not included HDR with the pc STILL is just mindboggling.
I'm trying to install special k. once i launch the the special k exe and can luanch the witcher from there but i cannot get the game to stay full screen? it just keep minimizing to the task bar? I can see that the exe has worked as when i over over the game on task bar i can see the injection has worked? Any ideas. i cant find any help on line or the special k discord
YOU need to add an exception to Special K in the options under whitelist pattern, add the game's exe, should work from then onwards. Also make sure you start the game in FULL SCREEN, not windowed or bordeless. Also delete any reshades in the game folder or it may crash, it can work with a reshade but there is a special way to do it and it is complicated, looks better without it, the TRUE HDR balances the greys and colors, no reshade needed IMO.
If HDR is enabled on Windows, game supports HDR natively, you are ruining your experience trying to make SDR into HDR color space ... never going to look as good as native.
Haha...another clueless buffoon, they come out at night I bet, Witcher 3 only uses HDR in windows 11 in Auto HDR, and even that is not working correctly as there are no proper calibrations, in windows 10 it is still in SDR no matter what you do., I am tired of debating this, you can listen to me, or to this genius. The choice is yours to make.
DX12 has native HDR with the nextgen update, what are you talking about? I can confirm this by disabling Auto HDR in win11 settings, but only leaving Native HDR enabled in windows 11, and witcher 3 will still use HDR. I've also tried both DX11 with Auto HDR or special K, and compared it with DX12 Native HDR on a LG C2 OLED, and DX11 looks like ass in comparison tbh. Remember to tune down either the gamma settings or black level on the OLED to get perfect blacks and shadows.
Native HDR looks much better than Auto HDR (or special K HDR, which is similar by faking a SDR image to "HDR"), and is one of the many reasons why DX12 is better than DX11 (along with more visual features, better FX effects, better shadows/AO, better foliage/grass/lightning, wind physics etc)

It seems to have installed fine, no errors or anything, just no way to set the dof, no options in any settings.
I use dx11 and dont use any mod managers like script merger and ect.
