   For some reason every now and then it reverts back to the original setting, is there a way to stop this, fed up of trudging through my C: drive to find it again

      Try to tick "read only" for gameplay.ini in it`s propreties.

   I don't have the command line in my gameplay.ini - I tried to add it but it doesn't work. I tried adding the toggle button in gameplay.xml - the button itself works, but doesn't do anything.
