This mod is broken for me, i backed up the patch.bundle and installed the mod via the bms and the repacking of it into patch.bundle and when i start a new game the enemies show lvl -1 and i cant hit them and they cant hit me and i cant die, and when i restore default patch.bundle, which should bring me back to vanilla and make it so i can hit enemies again, it ends up fixing nothing. I have to redownload the game every time after i try using this mod, i even did it by hand, editing all the lines in the xml files instead of letting the bat file do it. and it still does the same thing. i am using the steam version of the game. any help would be appreciated.
Patch 1.6 is causing a problem with the Just Combat version. Crossbow won't fire and locks the game up. I have to Ctrl-Alt-Del, Task Manager to exit game.
I restored all files from backup to vanilla and tested the crossbow with no issues.
Loaded the mod, Just Combat Mods, and the crossbow error above was there.Only mod installed.
I'm sure its an issue with Patch 1.6 moving things around.
Edit: I did some testing and found the issue is related to the file, geralt_skills.xml, removing this file from the JustCombatMods folder fixed the issue with the Cross Bow locking up the game. just not sure what part of the mod I deleted by doing this.
Thanks for you work on this mod, hope this info helps.
Hi, could you make a modification solely for infinite sprint in combat please?
If Geralt is able to jog infinitely out of combat, I see no reason why he has to consume stamina to do the same while looking at enemies. This bothers me really much.
Hey there, I'll look into it, and just update the Just combat file. I have not noticed that he loses stamina in combat. I am still running version 1.02 so if your up to date (1.05) you might be experiencing something im not. I am not going to update until the console debug mod works with a new version. If you have the ability to screen video what your experiencing, it would be very helpful.
Yes I'm playing with 1.05 but I'm not sure whether it is different with earlier versions. I have slow internet at the moment, so I am unable to upload videos until next month.
Basically, if you're outfight, just exploring, you have 3 movement speeds: slow walk, jog (toggling with Ctrl.) and sprint ( holding Shift). If you're in combat Geralt crouchwalks, looks at an enemy and moves very slow by default, you can't switch with Ctrl. into "jogging" mode, you only can increase your speed in combat by holding Shift to sprint, this however consumes stamina (the same way it would out of combat). But since you only have these two movement speeds in combat, (one very slow and one that's fast but consumes stamina), you are forced to roll around like a dog, if you want to use a sign (or anything that consumes stamina) immediately after getting behind an enemy. This is very immersion breaking in my opinion and I'd like to move freely in combat without this restriction and without having to roll around for no logical reason. That's why I'd like sprinting in combat not to cost any stamina.
Take your time :) my first playthrough was on easy, just to experience the story anyway. I'll seriously dig into this game first, when there are more mods available, to fix such annoying combat issues ( like being forced to roll around, or not being able to jump in fights and getting stuck on small obstacles, or random sword auto sheathing or the horrible horrible input lag.)
I'll give you that, but for me spamming spells is a blast. And for some people (me) video games have become too complex and very hard even on easy. I don't care to "master" these new games. I don't have the time nor drive to learn these vastly complex games. All combat in every game is going to get "boring" as its based on the same rules. No offense you sound like a Dark Soul fan boy . If your not, buy a copy and you'll be in love. So to answer your question, this mods point is to allow people to enjoy a 100+ hr game in half the time, some rather not spend their time parry, parry, quick, quick, quick until their thumbs bleed. Sure it takes the "fun" outta the combat, but the ability to remember the story by the time you finish a quest greatly increase. As to new abilities/skills that will have to wait until the dev kit comes out. Without that, the game can't/won't recognize the .bundle files with just a difference of one byte. So until the kit comes out, there physically cant be additional data to the game, or someone finds a way to make the game recognize the different size files(wayy too much effort to do), so your basically gonna have to wait a month or two.
Would there be anyway to stop loot bags from being dropped by enemies when you kill them? They sometimes cause the enemies body to "pop" up or jump just after you kill them which ruins immersion for me. Mind you it doesn't occur every time. Happens a lot with drowners.
I've noticed this as well! Very annoying. I think the problem is going to have to be solved by the devs, and come out with a new patch. Its not as simple as change value from 0 to 1. (which is all my mods are) Some one out there could prob fix it easy... but not me
Or are you just saying you dont want loot at all?
Now that i think about it, that seems more like a physics, or death animation. For that character, prob just needs a quick rework. I wouldn't be able to do that either untill Redkit is realeased.
I went off the description to the best of my understanding.
I placed your mod according to the file path in the description. I then booted the game up, but I didn't notice any difference in attack damage, health or health regen. Do I need to start a new game?
I don't know what a bms is.
I was hoping to modify your mod so that Geralt has very little health, but tremendous attack power so that Geralt and his foes both die quickly.
You cant just copy and paste the file (you can with the improvements mod) dont quote me but the bms.exe basically takes a advance zip file (patch.bundle) rips it apart. Now you can edit the file. Then you run a .bat file which puts it all back together. The file i provided is needed to be "zipped" back into the patch.bundle
Sorry i didnt make it too clear on how to do it :/ First real attempt at uploading. So thanks for being understanding.
I made this mod off of the link i sent you. If you take the time to study, and i do mean study. You'll never have another problem modding this game. Since the dev kits are not out yet, if you learn to do it now, in a month when they do come out, it'll be a breeze. Right now we are doing this the "manual" way, soon it will be download, click yes, play... that simple. Good Luck!
Here's an Idea if you feel like modding it. How about Realistic Combat where enemy's are easy to kill but so are you. (basically more damage, or less hp all around).
I was planning on this being the "overkill" mod, and making one more balanced. But when your looking at the lines of code and all the numbers, its very hard to compensate opp health with crit, dmg multi, spells, etc. devs spend ALOT of time making the game as balanced as it is. So kudos to them!
I am in the process of finding another balanced combat but just different. I dont know if everyone should walk around with 1 health lol. But might be worth a mod!
To your idea are you saying more damage from vanilla? or the mod?
If you want anything specific, ill be more than happy to help. If its real easy, i would just find a turtorial for modding witcher, 2 and 3 are the same process.
Sorry you caught me mid edit on the description, just copy the .bundle files and paste in content/content0/bundles make sure to backup this folder as startup.bundle seems to be very very fragile

I would be very grateful if you did such a mod.

I like your line descriptions, what was changed etc.
Good work! Thumps Up!
I wish everyone would post the lines they edit. To a noob modder (me) it would help ALOT!
I mean, what's the point of this Mod? You might as well set it on Easy and plow through the game.

Should I change the "Just Combat mods" folder name to "Full Version" ?
Should my file path look like this:
content/patch0/bundles/Full Version/gameplay/abilities
Or this:
content/patch0/bundles/Just Combat mods/gameplay/abilities
I changed my original plan for the mod mid modding.
Are you having any trouble?
I dont believe it matters, the exterior folder is just a place holder it could be "mymods", or anything.
Bms takes the .xml files out of the gameplay/abilities then rewrites them in the patch.bundle file.
When using bms, you also need the witcher.bms file, i didn't attach one since most modders already do.
Hope that helped!
