Lips doesn't move out of cutscenes for you? They never did. And the existence of this mod basically proves it. So staph with all those nonsense about my mod breaking the lipsync plz.

Instead of whining, download this awesome mod from rmemr and enjoy:

Without any mod and with MeshLODDistanceScale=1 (default value) lips move outside cutscene.

      Test and watch.

It was setting MeshLODDistanceScale to any other value other than the default 1 which broke lips and eyes moving outside of cutscenes. And setting it to a value other than 1 is required so character faces aren't melted with your mod. So yes, your mod indirectly breaks it. Remove your mod to prevent melting, and set MeshLODDistanceScale to 1, the lips and eyes move during gameplay.

Luckily the issues been solved now with the Mimic mod you've linked, which forces higher quality cutscene lip-sync and eye animations to be enabled during gameplay. Cutscene lipsync and eye animations were always unaffected by MeshLODDistanceScale settings, which is why the animations now work with the MeshLODDistanceScale settings required for your mod not to melt everybody's faces.

      You're all incorrect.

Some lips move and some do not no matter what you set the lod to.
      I have tested it with LOD set to, 1, 2 , 5, 10, 20 etc etc etc.

With LOD set to 1, the cap by CPDR of how many NPC's move the lips is maxed out, however that cap is small and not all lips move regardless.
By setting it to anything else you basically stop ALL NPC's from moving their mouths (unless in cutscenes)

To solve this problem (partly) use the mentioned mod http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1902/? and it will make it a lot better (not perfect though) whether you use High Quality faces or not.

High quality faces will not make it worse and are perfectly compatible with the mod mentioned above.

With the great mod "Lip Movement and HiRes Shadows on NPCs in gameplay" does the MeshLODDistanceScale setting matter any more, which should it be set to with both of these mods active?

Your comment here sounds ignorant of course there was lipsync for npcs out of cutscenes. your mod did break lipsync. had to get rmemr mimic lips to get it working. other than that great mod!

Lips DO move outside of cutscenes. I tried it often and yes, they move on most (80%) of the NPC's when talking to them during gameplay. So yes, this mod breaks that! Just the facts, no accusation.

I find it funny how mod authors can sometimes be ignorant, not aknowledge that it's the mod's fault and not an issue with vanilla game, and then just abandon the mod, never update it again. This is a great mod but it does have its flaws... The truth is, eyes and mouths did work outside of cutscenes, but we've been modding the game for so many years now, we've actually forgotten how vanilla game works... Still, people should read the damn description, it's there for a reason.

Of course lips move outside of cutscenes rofl.
I don't have this mod because personally I don't find it appealing, but for some reason one of the other mods I installed caused my game to bug so that the lips were not moving, so I found this fix, and now every npc moves lips and has facialing expresion, even when talking to other among themselves.

Those who have bugs with NPCs not moving lips when talking outside of the cutscenes, open your user.ini settings with notepad and find line MeshLodDistanceScale= under [Rendering], and change it to MeshLodDistanceScale=1 save and exit, after that delete user.settings.bak file. A new one with changes will be generated when you start the game.

After that, locate your witcher 3 location where is the game installed, go to witcher 3/bin/x64/base/rendering, open rendering file with notepad, find again MeshLodDistanceScale= and change it to value MeshLodDistanceScale=1.0f, press save and exit.

This will make npcs lips in game move when they talk outside of cutscenes. Works for me, it will work for you.

@tkorez as the faces continue to melt,
MeshLodDistanceScale = 1.0f is the default value of vanilla ..

so you just said to put LODMesh at 1 XD

Ok so the faces move without the mod and LOD distance 1.

If you use the mod Lod distance must be 2 or 10 but npc faces eyes and mouth won't move outside cutscenes.

The mod works fine but NPCs don't move lips when speaking and they don't blink their eyes.

Maybe on CDProjekt forums they would know how to fix the issue?

Just repeating my post in case it helps some people here.

1- you have to uninstall the mod,
2- then you edit the MeshLODDistanceScale,
3- and only then do you reinstall the mod. It seems to work in that case.

If you only change the setting, it does NOT work.

Cheers, and I hope it'll help some people!

In your Documents\The Witcher 3 folder (Your documents folder from your user directory - ie not Holgar96 <- that's a lack of foresight in the instructions)

      For example C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\Documents\The Witcher 3

I don't have a C:\users\MyUserName\Documents path that leads to a Witcher 3 folder with anything in it. Infact my documents folder is completely empty. I have Witcher 3 loaded through Steam library on a separate HDD which doesn't have a user file path.

Unless you're not running Windows, you have a documents folder. Go to the file explorer, and look at the left hand panel. You'll see an icon under either "quick access" or "this PC" called "documents". The Witcher 3 folder will be there as long as you've started the game once. It doesn't matter if the Documents folder is located on a different HDD from the game, because Windows will still know where to find it. For example, my copy of TW3 runs on my C drive, which is my SSD. But, my documents folder is located on D drive. My user settings file is still located where it's supposed to be.

BTW, this "the Witcher 3" folder is the same place your computer will save your game save data, just in case you ever need to find that.

EDIT: I see the good looking eyes but the lips dont move on NPCs when talking. Tried 10 and 2 in the user setting config file.

Just checking, but "unpack to your TW3directory/Mods" means the game directory right? Just make a "Mods" folder in the root of where the game is? Most mods ive seen (for other games) goes into "USERS/X/AppData/Game" so im just checking that im doing this right. Thanks!
