I'm looking for this kind of mod for like, since first time launched the game. I'm enjoying looting and finding stuff on my own, even using mod that makes schematics and recipes harder to find https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/2897?tab=description If you don't mind me asking, could this mod be used on Classic Gen too?
Hi, not tested on Old-Gen, but in theory it should work well. If you want to quickly be sure that it does work well on Old-Gen, install the mod and use the console command to give you a glyph/rune for which you don't have the schematic yet. For exemple, if you don't have the Rune stribog schematic, type additem('Rune stribog') . If you see a pop up for the schematic added, then it does work as intended
I followed your example to the letter and it works just as you explained it! Thanks! I also have a few more questions, I'm sorry if you already answered them:
1. If you loot, for example - stribog rune and automatically get it's schematic, will it automatically disappear from all shops and vendors ( preventing buying schematic you already have learned )?
2. "Greater and rarer runes may not be lootable in the world, so you'll probably have to buy them." - which ones you refer to, if you know any specific glyphs and runes that can't be looted in any way?
3. Could actual schematics be lootable, like they are for armors and weapons?
1) Yes, if a recipe is known you won't see it again in shop. 2) I don't have specific exemple. I'm also not familiar with the mod you listed and how much it change loot-table. 3) Yes, recipes can be a lootable item. If a recipe is always in a define chest but already known, it will simply be hidden.

It would be great if you learn to craft runes and glymphs by actually finding schematics scattered through world, just as vanilla alchemy recipes, armors and swords schematics. I'm not aware of any mod that does that so far.
It's always seemed incoherent to me that runes seem to be made for Geralt to use. You never find an enemy using it, not even witch hunters, who should be able to use even dimeritium bombs. From what I've learned, it's impossible to get enemies to drop swords with runes as loot, so in my opinion, in order to justify Geralt being the only one capable of using runes, they shouldn't be for sale everywhere. Geralt should be the only one capable of having them, especially since there are runes and glyphs that maximize or mimic a witcher's abilities. So it would be fair for Geralt to start with the diagrams of all runes and glyphs, but that I always have to manufacture it and can't buy them and loot them. It will be more expensive and difficult to have runes in this way but it is more realistic and adds difficulty to a game that is not really difficult and in which it is already very easy to acquire many runes without spending a single coin and even make a lot of money selling a few.
It would've been neat indeed to see npc sword with runes glow/engraving too. It would've definitly help to contextualise runes and glyphes in the world. Vanilla has way too much loot by default, totaly agree on that. While reducing all loot is a good thing, removing runes and glyphs entierly from lootable i'm not so sure, as exploring and looting stuffs is generaly a core concept of open world. I personnaly won't like it much 😅 Witcher Hunter throwing bomb is a (really cool) feature of the Eternal Hunt mod.

Thank you for work! Amazing, as always...
Yeah, it's design to work on ongoing playthrough.
