If anyone is wondering if this mod works with Melitele's Heart - Combat Stats Fixes (https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher2/mods/832) as they both have a file called 'def_item_misc', you can add this line (below) to this mod's 'def_item_misc' file (I used Notepad).
1. Download this mods file 2. Open this mods 'def_item_misc' file in your preferred program. I used Notepad 3. Copy <vitality_combat_regen mult="false" always_random="false" min="1" max="1"/> from this step that you're reading right now (this code came from the 'def_item_misc' file in the Melitele's Heart - Combat Stats Fixes mod) 5. Navigate to <ability name="Heart of Melitele _Stats"> in THIS MODS FILE 6. Underneath <vitality_regen mult="false" always_random="false" min="1" max="1"/> paste <vitality_combat_regen mult="false" always_random="false" min="1" max="1"/>
Theoretically it should work as we're adding a line of code and not changing anything else that this mod changed. As of writing this I haven't tested it yet but I wanted to put these instructions here before I forgot what I did.
As always BACK UP YOUR FILES BEFORE YOU CHANGE ANYTHING
If you want to know how I figured this out - I downloaded both 'def_item_misc' files from this mod page and the Melitele's Heart - Combat Stats Fixes mod page and compared them with Notepad++. I used this article as a guide https://www.howtogeek.com/how-to-compare-two-files-in-notepad-plus-plus/
Can confirm that this method works as I have made it to the Act 1 crafter and have been able to dismantle junk. Will report back if I have any issues with finishing Melitele's Heart quest
An excellent mod! Working well on Steam EE in 2020.
Since the instructions have been buried couple pages ago (and the author seems to not be maintaining the mod), here's how to install and use the mod.
INSTALLING: (do so AFTER you complete the tutorial or else it can glitch, as pointed out by PossiblePsycho) 1. Download manually and unzip the .zip archive. You should get a folder named 'items' with two .xml files inside. 2. Copy the 'items' folder into your CookedPC folder. For Steam users, this should be located './Program FIles (x86)/steam/steamapps/common/the witcher 2/CookedPC'. 3. If you have an existing 'items' folder and it contains pre-existing files that conflict, make sure to back up those ones by either moving them somewhere safe or adding .bak to the end of the file name.
USE 1. Make sure you have junk or traps in your inventory. 2. Find a smith or craftsman, basically any NPC that offers you the 'I would like to craft something' dialogue. There's a blacksmith standing around Flotsam in Act 1 who works. 3. Scroll down your crafting schematics as usual until you find schematics for raw materials (eg. 'silver ore'). When you click it, it should show you how much junk/traps will be consumed to craft. Go ahead and craft. 4. Voila! Useless junk is now valuable materials!
great mod, but a pain in the a** to integrate in emc:) two problems though: the tutorial stuff is missing and all the food is non stackable
this is easy to fix with winmerge, just open the def_item_misc.xml file from this mod and the original def_item_misc.xml file/ other modded def_item_misc.xml file (like from emc) and copy the tutorial stuff (it's at the bottom)
This mod (an awesome one, as far as i remember from my last playthrough) should be installed AFTER tutorial, otherwise it may glitch right at the beginning (there is no tournament announcement on the corpse).
So, how do I make this work? every time I try to do anything it says that no actions can be performed with this item. Everything seems to be properly labed as both a component and diagram, and I can see the recipie to breakdown multiple items, but I can't do anything with them.
I know you asked it a while ago, but someone might have the same question: it's done at any smith, they work with the blueprints. Just check the list next time you come up to one.
