fantastic mod but too bad it annihilates the whole loot and crafting aspect of the game. you can play until chapter 3 (last chapter) without any meaningful gear upgrades if you have a witcher 1 save...
I simply do not understand how this mod works, nor what am I supposed to do in order to win fights. How am I supposed to know when I will get hit or not? How do I know which attack I can parry and which will one shot me?
I have tried my best to use this mod, but there are simply too many things that make no sense on why this was done. First of all, getting rid of manual parry has to be the least engaging while the most frustrating thing I have seen in a game. It would be like making a mod for Batman Arkham Knight, and only making it to where he randomly blocks attacks instead of having the player mess up, it'll just be random if you block something. I only like this mod for the Geralt's responsiveness and some of the combat npcs, even though they stand still and wont attack after THEY CAN BLOACK/PARRY YOU BUT YOU CAN'T. I find vanilla with some mods to be more engaging and enjoyable while still being a decent challenge on hard or insane difficulty, plus the only thing I would need to enjoy the combat would be the pirouette, which should have been the main doge for FCR2 because rolling like it is a Dark Souls game, is really bad. Rolling is the worst kind of dodge in a game. Now The Witcher 1 FCR was AMAZING! I played that on Witcher difficulty, and I enjoyed it and beat it, plus the change of parrying actually work. I think I'll always stick to a vanilla playthrough with instead of trying to get this to work. It is frustrating on how fights go with people and that Quen as my main block is truly the dumbest change I've seen. I love all the Witcher games, but this mod is not it if you want a fresh experience, especially playing as a mutant swordsman, who does get pretty messed up often and get cuts, but in this mod, he cannot even block an attack from the starting npcs. It's not even by chance for him to block on mine, he literally will not parry 100% of the time. At least in vanilla I can engage with blocking and reposting as I see fit. Would love to know if anyone else has issues with Geralt not blocking anything but all the enemies block him.
I am going to play for the first time Witcher 2, which mods recommends you as an alternative? Planning to play on the hardest difficulty. I've played Witcher 1 without combat mods because I like games more close to vanilla.
For anyone trying to use this on Linux in steam, make sure you go into the Witcher 2 properties, compatibility, and force steam play compatibility. The Witcher 2 has a native Linux version that steam uses unless you tell it explicitly to use proton. Then it will run the Windows version using proton and this installer will work without issue when you select the Wither 2 prefix.
hello great mod and everything combat feels like mix of witcher 1 and 3 which is neat but one thing that bothers me is the new dodge animation (the spinning one) is there anyway to disable that animation and just have the vanilla rolling dodge? thx bunch
It seems fcr2 remove dark armor bonuses from blasphemer's outfit, at least in my game. Does anyone know about that anything? Is that mod features or just another bug?
Game runs as it should, Geralt sometimes does pirouettes, sometimes he does rolls anyway, so I guess it works. Can't really say it makes a dramatic difference, but I haven't played W2 in a while
Can't play the game anymore without this mod, the combat is so much better that you can forgive the biggest downside of this mod that is the removal of most armor and weapons
