If footwork is doesn't work with this mod then how can we increase the pirouette's distance? If there's no way then we're just putting ourselves at a disadvantage. Beautiful animation though 1000x better than the clumsily stiff vanilla roll
I know I'm a bit late replying to this, but yes it is possible. But what would be a good effect for the talent? I'm only able to apply skills that already exist in the game.
For example a % chance of auto-riposte attack when you hold "E".
This mod allows me to stomach playing this game after playing Witcher 1 as my first Witcher game. A lot of the changes urk me from like aesthetics to combat system and just general vibe. But the worst offender by far is the roll animation. Sure its not more realistic but its more Witcher if the first game is anything to go by. I imagine the shock in difference was less intense for those who waited for the next game to be released but if you chain them one after the other on steam and witcher 1 was the one you started with, 2 is a slap in the face xD
This is amazing, especially that you can change the direction of the pirouette while doing it. It may not seem like much but this is just so much better than rolling. Would be great to have both, would be great to have strafing and step dodge too, but this is the best we can get.
I think I've managed to solve the compatibility problem of this mod with Extreme Quality Flora (http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher2/mods/653/?). Copy the flora's mod's pack0.dzip into your RED Tools folder. Unpack it by simply dragging it over the Gibbed.RED.Unpack.exe. Now open the newly created pack0 folder. There look for characters\templates\witcher\witcher_steel.w2anims and simply delete it since this is the file causing the incompatibility. Now repack the pack0 folder to pack0.dzip by dragging it over Gibbed.RED.Pack.exe (make sure you deleted the copied flora's mod pack0.dzip beforehand). This will automatically create a new pack0.dzip file in your RED Tools folder. Now simply copy this dzip file to your Extreme Quality Flora folder overwriting the original one and there you go. Works just fine
Hi, i dowloaded this mod for my witcher 1-3 playtrough but with this mod i have sufferd through multiple crashes in one single day, can someone answer me why this is happening?
This is much more lore-friendly than the roll. Witchers apparently do tons of pirouettes in the books.
But still, both are kinda exaggerated and a bit ridiculous. The roll would get you killed, and the pirouette just as well. They require to lower your guard, and they take way too much time for what little lateral movement they offer.
A quick side-step or even a side-hop would be much more practical, especially for someone with superhuman reflexes and strength. A side-step wouldn't make you expose your back and flanks during a long and heavily telegraphed movement (such as a roll or pirouette). A side-step also preserves your balance and momentum for an immediate counterattack, unlike a roll or pirouette, wich would take more time to recover your stance. It's called footwork for a reason: you either keep your feet on the ground or you die.
Hence why a trained swordsman would never do that in a real fight, i.e. a life-or-death situation.
can you possibly also do this for Quen from that mod?
I pretty much dislike nearly everything that the Full Combat Rebalanced mod does, aside from the dodge animation and how quen works.
Its much better that quen works as a "hold down" type of sign, tough its not necessary for it to automatically activate while blocking tough, (that's actually quite annoying as it waists valuable energy I could use for other signs)

Awesome mod!
